The North Texas Auto Theft Task force participated in Sachse Public Safety Day by hosting a free VIN etching event to help educate the public on vehicle theft prevention. The event provided an opportunity to engage with community, promote public safety and raise awareness about proactive measures citizens can take to help protect their vehicles from theft.

Detectives with the North Texas Auto Theft Task Force in collaboration with garland police department, Texas DPS and the FBI executed search warrants on two properties recovering 14 stolen vehicles, 3 stolen engines and 1 skid steer. Detectives on scene also arrested a suspect on 2 felony charges regarding this investigation.

The NTATTF had a great time participating in several local National Night Out events! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our communities, discuss ways to prevent auto theft, and share tips for safely purchasing vehicles and equipment through social media platforms.

And, of course, no National Night Out would be complete without a little fun. Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority own Amber Ott showed that her crime-prevention skills aren’t her only talent—she also brought her double Dutch game! 🪢😂

A big thank-you to all the communities who welcomed us and helped make these events such a success. Together, we can help keep our communities—and our vehicles—safe!

Today, U-Haul representatives met with detectives from the NTATTF to express their appreciation for the successful recovery of multiple stolen U-Haul vehicles and pieces of equipment.

Some of the stolen equipment was recovered through Facebook Marketplace. Please remain vigilant and be aware of potential scams involving individuals attempting to sell or rent stolen U-Haul vehicles or equipment through Facebook Marketplace.

If you encounter a suspicious listing or transaction, use caution and consider reporting it to law enforcement and Facebook Marketplace.

Today the NTATTF hosted a free 8 hour TCOLE credit class on Auto Theft for Patrol. This class was designed for patrol officers, investigators and detectives. Also in the class were some new members of Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)

We covered VIN breakdown, current auto theft trends and techniques along with clone vehicle identification and social media scams. These officers were also educated on specific transportation code, penal code and CCP laws and rules pertaining to auto theft.
