At the March 2, 2015 West Dallas 1 Coalition meeting, neighborhood association groups listen to Real Values for Texas, Beverly Ortiz, encouraging support in creating a fair, transparent and effective property tax system that does not burden homeowners who have to pay the difference when commercial property owners don't pay their fair share in property taxes!
A fair, transparent and effective system must include:
- Property tax appeals based on market value;
-Requiring large commercial properties owners to disclose sales price;
- Closing loopholes that allow and incentivize manipulation of the appraisal and protest system; this includes ending excessive attorney/tax consultant fees and increasing protest review time for appraisal districts

Taxes.

We all pay them. However, some pay more than others. For instance, large commercial property owners only pay on about 40% of their property values, while homeowners pay on about 100% of their property values.

Thankfully, because of actions we taken, elected officials are starting to listen as we highlight the need for a fairer property tax system. Many bills have been introduced since the 84th legislative session began. However, none of those bills have been quite strong enough.

Email your legislators today to make sure that they support fair, transparent and effective property tax reform.

We’ve already sent them a letter letting them know that a fair system must include:
Property tax appeals that are based on market value.
Required sales price disclosure by owners of large commercial properties.
Closure of loopholes which allow and incentivize manipulation of the appraisal and protest system; this includes ending excessive attorney/tax consultant fees and increasing protest review time for appraisal districts.

We need to echo the message! Take action today and let our legislator know you support Real Values for Texas’s priorities for property tax reform.

Currently homeowners are paying more than their fair share while support for our community services erodes and large commercial property owners shirk their responsibility.

It’s time for Real Values for Texas.

Daniel Arredondo says he will be meeting with City staff to discuss how to save the Beaver Lodge (only one on this side of the levee, in West Dallas) that has been in the Pavaho Sump for almost 20 years!

Daneil Arredondo, says for years since they created the Pavaho Sump, wild life has lived peacefully with residents;in West Dallas! Dredging and pouring cement this past month killed hundreds, if not thousands of fish, turtles and other wild life? Why did the City of Dallas allow this to happen?

West Dallas resident, Daniel Arredondo says killing habitat in the Pavaho Sump area is not good for people living in West Dallas!

In February, 2014, to help encourage pet owners in West Dallas to care for their pets, Vecinos Unidos, Inc. provided our building facilities to Animal Allies of Texas (AAT) to bring their Low Cost Pet Vaccination and Microchipping to the West Dallas community! The clinic is scheduled for the third (3rd) Saturday of the month, from 10:am to 2:00pm!
