One Night of Mystery. A Season of Impact.

10/22/2026

A strong community isn’t built by one organization working alone. It’s built through partnerships that connect people with resources, opportunities, and support.

Yesterday, we visited the Highland Hills Branch Library in Dallas and had the pleasure of meeting with its new Branch Manager, Jabari Jones.

Although Jabari has only been in his new role for two weeks, he’s already focused on strengthening the library’s connection to the surrounding community.

During our conversation, he highlighted several resources that many residents may not realize are available, including career development assistance, resume building, youth literacy programs, and financial literacy education.

These are the kinds of resources that can create opportunities and improve lives.

Our visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the Chris Howell Foundation’s upcoming Thanksgiving Food Distribution, which will take place Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Highland Hills Branch Library, 6200 Bonnie View Road in Dallas.

We’ll distribute food boxes and turkeys through a drive-thru distribution. No registration is required, and food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

We are grateful for our continued partnerships with Dallas Public Library, Kroger and Crossroads Community Services whose commitment to community engagement helps make initiatives like this possible.

We encourage you to watch our conversation, learn more about the resources available through your local library, and share this information with someone who may benefit.

Because meaningful community impact isn’t just about meeting immediate needs. It’s about creating connections and opportunities that can make a difference long after the moment has passed.

There’s more happening at your neighborhood library than you might realize.

We stopped by the Highland Hills Branch Library yesterday to visit with its new Branch Manager, Jabari Jones, who has been on the job for just two weeks.

During his conversation with Chris, Jabari shared some of the incredible resources available to the community, including career development assistance, resume building, youth literacy programs, financial literacy classes, and more.

These are resources that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families, and they’re available right here in our community.

Of course, we also talked about the Chris Howell Foundation’s upcoming Thanksgiving Food Distribution!

On Saturday, November 21, we’ll return to the Highland Hills Branch Library to distribute food boxes and turkeys to families in need.

9:00 AM to Noon
6200 Bonnie View Road
Dallas, TX 75241

This is a drive thru distribution. No registration is required. First come, first served while supplies last.

We’re grateful for our continued partnership with Dallas Public Library, Kroger and Crossroads Community Services Dallas

Take a few minutes to meet Jabari, learn about the resources available at your neighborhood library, and help us spread the word about our upcoming Thanksgiving distribution.

Because strengthening communities isn’t just about meeting immediate needs. It’s also about connecting people with opportunities that can change their lives.

Some people make an impact through what they say. Others make an impact through what they do. And then there are those whose leadership changes the way communities are served.

Benaye Wadkins Chambers is one of those leaders.

Chris Howell Foundation is proud to recognize Benaye Wadkins Chambers, President and CEO of Crossroads Community Services , as the recipient of our 2026 Community Impact Award.

Throughout her career, Benaye has demonstrated that addressing food insecurity requires more than providing a meal. It requires understanding the connection between nutrition, health, dignity, and opportunity.

Under her leadership, Crossroads Community Services has expanded access to nutritious food through innovative programs, including community markets and the Redbird Nutrition Pharmacy, helping families across North Texas build healthier, more stable lives.

Her influence extends well beyond Dallas through her national advocacy, nonprofit leadership, and commitment to developing the next generation of community leaders.

At Chris Howell Foundation, we understand the importance of this work because we see firsthand the difference it makes in the lives of the families we serve.

On Saturday, October 31, we will have the privilege of celebrating Benaye during our 2nd Annual Murder Mystery Fundraising Dinner at The SchoolHouse Dallas.

Before the mystery unfolds, we’ll take time to recognize individuals whose commitment to serving others is making a meaningful difference in our community.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of celebration, entertainment, and purpose as we honor Benaye and our other 2026 Community Impact Honorees.

Dallas, have you made your Halloween plans yet?

What if this year, instead of watching a murder mystery, you became part of one?

On Saturday, October 31, the Chris Howell Foundation invites you to an unforgettable evening of mystery, intrigue, laughter, great food, and unexpected twists at The School House Dallas.

Our 2nd Halloween Murder Mystery Dinner isn’t your typical Halloween party. It’s an interactive experience where everyone is a potential suspect, nothing is quite what it seems, and you never know what might happen next.

And as these photos from last year’s event show, our guests know how to have a good time!

But here’s what makes the evening even more meaningful.

While you’re enjoying a memorable night out you’re also helping us prepare to serve hundreds of North Texas families through our upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas Initiatives.

One evening of entertainment. A lasting impact on families in our community.

We’re just 15 days away, and we’d love to have you join us!

Make it a date night. Gather your friends. Reserve a table for your team.

Just remember everyone is a suspect!
