We appreciate all the work the Sprig & Dig Club does to keep the library beautiful!
There is a lot of beautiful plant life on the grounds of the Dalton-Whitfield Public Library. Now, thanks to the work of some dedicated Dalton volunteers, visitors to the library can learn about the different types of plants that can be seen there.
Members of the local Robert Loughridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been working with the Sprig and Dig Garden Club to identify and label plants throughout the library's grounds. The group has created informational signs and installed them to highlight the beautiful perennial flowers near the library's entrance as well as the pollinator garden adjacent to the parking lot.
The Sprig and Dig Garden Club has been caring for the garden at the library for more than 50 years, dating back to when the library was still located on Selvidge Street. The garden, now located near the library's entrance, is a labor of love and a great contribution to our community.
There's still more work to come, with a fall cleanup day being planned in the coming weeks (no date is yet available). Anyone interested in helping out should contact Allison Mitchell, the community garden specialist with the Dalton Parks and Rec Department, at [email protected] or by phone at 706-278-5404.
