ππ TRAINING TODAY FOR A SAFER TOMORROW! ππ
This past weekend, October 16β18, firefighters came together at the Sweeny Fire Field for an intensive three-day Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue β NFPA 1006-8 training course!
Members of the Damon Volunteer Fire Department, alongside firefighters from neighboring departments, spent their weekend gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in vehicle rescue and extrication.
Throughout the weekend, firefighters worked on:
πΉ Vehicle stabilization and scene safety
πΉ Proper use of hydraulic rescue tools and equipment
πΉ Vehicle construction and extrication techniques
πΉ Patient access and safe removal
πΉ Teamwork, communication, and rescue operations
This training was conducted with the expertise of Genesis Rescue Systems instructors, providing firefighters the opportunity to further develop their rescue skills through a TEEX certification course.
π A special thank you to West of the Brazos ESD #2, the instructors, organizers, and everyone who helped make this training possible!
We also want to recognize the firefighters who gave up their weekend and time with their families to better themselves and their departments. That dedication is what makes the volunteer fire service so special.
π¨ When someone is trapped in a vehicle, training isnβt just important β it can mean the difference between life and death.
Our commitment to training doesnβt stop, because our communities deserve firefighters who are ready when the call comes.
