Earlier tonight family, friends and colleagues gathered at the historic Jefferson County Courthouse in Dandridge to hear and witness a proclamation in honor of James Ray ( J Ray ) Walker presented by County Mayor Randy Bales and County Commission for his years of service to Jefferson County as a volunteer member of the Jefferson County Rescue Squad, Dandridge Fire Department along with being a school bus driver for over 40 years and a valued employee with Farrar Funeral Home.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Chief, Jay Ray Walker.

Chief Walker faithfully served our Rescue Squad for over 40 years, dedicating his life to serving the citizens of Jefferson County. He was a true leader, mentor, and friend, and his legacy of service will never be forgotten.

Please keep his family and our squad family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements will be announced when finalized.
