THIS MONTH AT THE LIBRARY

Fall Prevention & Home Modifications- Thursday, October 29- 7:00 PM

Each year, millions of older people—those 65 and older—fall. In fact, more than one out of four older people falls each year, but less than half tell their doctor. Falling once doubles your chances of falling again.* Falls can be a significant risk for seniors, and our goal is to provide practical tips and recommendations to help you stay safe and independent at home. We will cover common fall risks in different areas of the home and discuss factors that can contribute to the risk of falling. Our experienced rehabilitation therapist will guide you through recommended home safety modifications for living spaces, stairs, entrances, and outdoor areas.

This event will be held in the Gordon Room.

Finding Your Next Read: Tito Amato #6 Whispers of Vivaldi by Beverle Graves Myers

Set in 18th century Venice, Whispers of Vivaldi is a wonderful and intriguing murder mystery book that I could not put down! The story focuses on the main character Tito Amato whom a former opera singer loses his singing voice due to an accident but has taken on the role to prove he is a great music director of the opera. As the theater is in dire straits of seeking patrons to fill the seats as Carnival arrives, Tito Amato must find a catchy opera to draw in patrons as they compete with another opera house who is drawing in more patrons for performances. Tito discovers a musical score for an opera written by the late composer Antonio Vivaldi as a possible score to hope to fill the seats of the opera house. However, a series of events ranging from a mysterious singer arrives to play the role in the opera to a murder! Will Tito solve the mysteries of the events that occur and will Vivaldi’s opera be a hit to save the opera house? You will need to read more to find out! I highly recommend this book if you love music, murder mysteries, history, and twist and turn plot you should check this out!
