October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we’re wearing purple and standing with every survivor of domestic violence. Your story matters. Your safety matters. You are not alone.

As an organization that supports survivors of sexual assault, we know that violence takes many forms, and that survivors of every kind deserve to be believed, supported, and surrounded by a community that cares. We’re committed to working toward a future free from violence of any kind.

If you or someone you know needs support because of domestic violence, Crosspoint Human Services has a 24/7 hotline number: (888) 549-1800

You can also reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (or text START to 88788).

Knowing the facts about sexual assault helps break down harmful myths that often prevent survivors from coming forward.

What someone wears is never an invitation or a form of consent. Consent is a clear, voluntary "yes" given freely by the person, not something inferred from clothing. Sexual assault is a choice made by the perpetrator, and the responsibility lies entirely with them. Research consistently shows that people are assaulted while wearing every kind of clothing, from jeans and work uniforms to pajamas.

Education creates understanding, reduces stigma, and encourages a culture of support. When someone discloses their experience, listening without judgment and believing them can make a powerful difference in their healing journey.

Let's replace myths with facts, awareness with action, and silence with support. 🩷

2026 It's All in the Jeans! πŸ‘–

Our staff made a donation to OSF Healthcare today to wear jeans to work today in support of cancer patients receiving critical support services.

OSF Healthcare Cancer Center offers supportive services for patients to help them navigate life after diagnosis.

Not only did we have blue jeans worn to support this cause, but we also represented our support for breast cancer awareness with pink shirt and jeans! 🩷

Healing starts with people who show up together. πŸ’™

We're proud to partner with the Vermilion County Children's Advocacy Center to support children and families after trauma and abuse. By working side by side, we make sure kids get the care they need in one safe, child-friendly place, without having to repeat their story again and again.

Together, we're helping children feel heard, protected, and supported.

Mindfulness can include your favorite foods and flavors.

One of the simplest ways to practice mindfulness is by slowing down at mealtime. As you eat, notice the colors on your plate, the aroma of your food, the texture of each bite, and the flavors as they change.

Eating mindfully helps bring your attention back to the present moment, offering a break from distractions and the rush of a busy day. It's also a way to tune in to what your body needs, without judgment.

At your next meal, try setting your phone aside. Take a deep breath, eat your first few bites slowly, and simply notice the experience. Sometimes calm begins with just one bite.

Several staff members representing every one of our departments are at the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault's Statewide Conference, learning alongside other sexual assault response centers from across Illinois.

They're sharpening their skills, deepening their understanding of counseling techniques, and learning about updated state laws and prevention education curriculum, all so they can show up even better for survivors and their loved ones.

Every insight they gather will come home with them to Vermilion, Edgar, and Clark counties. Because survivors deserve nothing less than our very best.
