Over the past few days your Darrington Volunteer Firefighters have responded to several minor brush fires and smoke / unauthorized burning investigations.

Reminder a State wide burn ban is still in effect until September 30th.

Prohibited: Yard debris burning, trash disposal, land clearing, w**d abatement, bonfires, and loose campfires.

Allowed: Liquid-fueled or gas-fueled stoves and grills over non-flammable surfaces (at least five feet away from flammable vegetation) and campfires contained in approved fire rings or pits at private property, parks, or campgrounds.

Current Fire Danger: MODERATE

What Moderate Fire Danger Means

Spread and Intensity: Fires in open, dry grass can spread quickly on windy days, while typical wood or timber fires spread at a slow to moderate rate.

Control: Average fire intensity is moderate, and control is usually not difficult with light to moderate cleanup (mop-up) required.

Ignition: Fires start somewhat readily from unattended embers, sparks, or accidental human activity.

We are not out of the woods yet, please be mindful of your fire activities and if there is question about if it’s safe or not please err on the side of caution and do not burn.

If you see fire activity that seems hazardous please call 911 and we will gladly investigate.

Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, September 4, Snohomish County’s burn ban will be reduced from Stage 2 to Stage 1 due to recent rain and improved weather conditions.

Under Stage 1, recreational and cooking fires are allowed in approved fire pits, but residential open burning remains prohibited. Recreational fires must be no larger than 3 feet wide and 2 feet high, kept at least 25 feet from structures or combustible materials, and have a water source readily available.

⚠️ If a Red Flag Warning is issued, all outdoor burning—including recreational fires—is prohibited.

Please burn responsibly, have a fire extinguisher, hose, or 5 gallon bucket of water handy and, when in doubt, don’t burn.
