Before beginning any harvest activities, take the time to identify the location of all overhead power lines in the area, including lines that run along fields and near access roads. Remind others to do the same. Never assume a line is out of reach or safe to work near.

Do you know what to do if you are in an accident involving a power line or electrical equipment?

Do not get out of the equipment. Stay inside and call the utility company and 911. Keep others away from the equipment and wait for the utility company to arrive and let you know when it is safe to get out.

Even if the scene appears safe, there may still be hidden electrical dangers. Never assume a power line or electrical equipment is safe until our linemen have told you it is safe to exit.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is a great time to strengthen your online accounts and update your passwords. A long, unique passphrase can be harder for cybercriminals to crack than a short password packed with special characters. Choose something memorable but difficult for others to guess—and never reuse passwords across multiple accounts.

Please do not exit the vehicle or equipment until a utility crew tells you it is safe to do so. Stay inside and warn others to stay away.
