Vietnam Veterans Memorial “The Moving Wall” is now open in Davie at Bergeron Rodeo Grounds (4201 SW 65th Way) and will be available for viewing 24/7 through April 27 at 8 a.m. 🇺🇸

This moving tribute honors more than 58,000 service members and offers visitors the chance to reflect, find a loved one’s name and pay tribute. Special speakers and presentations will take place throughout the weekend, see the schedule below:

Friday, April 24
• 6 p.m. - Captain Thomas Schook (U.S. Coast Guard, ret.), U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard, and National Anthem by Cypress Bay High School Band.

Saturday, April 25
• 12 p.m. - Welcoming Home Ceremony featuring Colonel Connie Christensen (U.S. Army, ret.), Robert Atkins (U.S. Army), John “Chickie” Donohue (Merchant Marine, ret.), Mrs. Carter the mother of Medal of Honor recipient and Private First Class Bruce Carter (U.S. Marine Corp), and a Huey flyover.
• 6 p.m. - Bruce Eisner (U.S. Air Force, ret.) and Civil Air Patrol Raptor Squadron Color Guard.

Sunday, April 26
• 2 p.m. - Lieutenant Steve Amarant (U.S. Navy, ret.), Commander Tom Melville (U.S. Navy, ret.) and Town of Davie Police Department Color Guard.
• 6 p.m. - Leland Upshaw (U.S. Marine Corps) and Stranahan High School MCJROTC Color Guard.

This incident is a stark reminder of the unpredictable and dangerous reality our members face every single day.

What began as a residential burglary response quickly escalated into an armed ambush. A suspect hid in a tree, opened fire, and shot Fort Lauderdale Police Department K-9 Appie before continuing to flee and fire additional rounds.

Let that sink in! This was a calculated attack on law enforcement.

We stand shoulder to shoulder firmly with the men and women of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and are praying for a full and speedy recovery for Appie.

This year’s event, proudly hosted by the Broward Sheriff's Office, is a solemn tribute to the brave women, men, and canines who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities here in Broward County.

Yesterday, 2/18/2026, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Diego, suffered a medical emergency while participating in a competitive process for the Patrol’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, being held at the FHP Training Academy. Despite extraordinary lifesaving efforts of State Troopers, First Responders and medical staff, Trooper Diego tragically passed away with his loved ones by his side. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Diego and Florida Highway Patrol family.
