🌎 Hands-on environmental sciences for undergraduates During her first year as director of the Institute of the Environment, Professor Isabel Montañez has worked to strengthen the Institute’s position as the leader of climate change research across environmental science disciplines at UC Davis.

An educational walk on the topic, “Fall flora” will be conducted at the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve on Saturday, October 29, from 8:00-10:00 am. Space is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. Please use the link below if you are interested in attending:

An educational walk on the topic, “Insect life in the California foothills” will be conducted at the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve on Saturday, October 15, from 8:00-10:00 am, led by Professor Phil Ward.

California has a rich insect fauna, with many species confined to the state. On this hike, we will look at some of the commoner and more conspicuous insects found in Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve, and talk about their ecological and behavioral attributes.

It is bioblitz time again at Stebbins Cold Canyon!

It's that time of the year again. Time to open up that old iNaturalist app and contribute to the global City Nature Challenge. Wherever you are in the world you can contribute to this great project simply by photographing the things you love. Whether in your backyard or in your favorite wildland, all you will need is your smart phone and a quest for adventure!
