Our hope is that this site will provide the answers to many of your questions regarding the services that the Police Department provides for the Davis community. However, it will never substitute for the value of person-to-person discourse. We will actively seek to create those opportunities and we invite you to help us improve the dialogue through your participation and seeking out opportunities as well.

The Davis Police Department is advising the community of a reported mountain lion sighting near Kestrel Place and the bike path. Residents are encouraged to use caution when walking, biking, or recreating in the area, especially during early morning and evening hours.

Mountain lions are generally elusive and avoid human contact, but community members should remain alert and follow safety precautions:

• Do not approach or attempt to follow the animal
• Keep children and pets close
• Avoid jogging or biking alone in isolated areas

The sighting has been reported to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and officers are monitoring the area.

Anyone who sees a mountain lion should call 9-1-1.

Officers from the Davis Police Department stopped by North Davis Elementary School to spend some time with students and share a few donuts 🍩.

It was a great opportunity to connect with our community’s youngest members, answer questions, and build positive relationships in a relaxed setting. Moments like these help strengthen trust and remind us why community policing matters.

Thank you to the staff and students at North Davis Elementary for the warm welcome. We always enjoy visiting our Davis schools.

Members of the Davis Police Department attended the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

This ceremony serves as a solemn reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day and the profound loss felt by families, friends, and communities across California. We stand in support of the surviving families and reaffirm our commitment to never forget those who gave their lives in service to others.

We are grateful for the opportunity to represent our community and to pay tribute alongside agencies from across the state. Their sacrifice will always be remembered.

May is National Bike Safety Month. The Davis Police Department reminds all drivers to share the road and remain attentive to bicyclists, pedestrians, and other users of alternative modes of transportation on our streets and pathways.

A moment of awareness, slowing down, yielding when required, and checking surroundings, helps prevent collisions and keeps our community safe.
