We're excited to share that Yolo County Children’s Alliance's Home Visiting team was featured in a video by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH)! 🎥

The video highlights the meaningful impact YCCA's Home Visiting Program has had on one local family while shining a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible work of our Family Support Specialist, Adriana! 🌟

At YCCA, we believe strong families build stronger communities. Our Home Visiting Program puts that belief into action by meeting families where they are, building trusting relationships, and providing personalized guidance, encouragement, and resources to help parents and caregivers navigate challenges and celebrate milestones.

What makes home visiting so powerful is the relationship between families and the professionals who support them. Through consistent, compassionate care, our team helps families build confidence, strengthen connections, and create a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Moving to California can be the beginning of an exciting new chapter! Whether you're relocating for a new job, moving closer to family, or starting fresh in a new community, there are plenty of things to think about—and health coverage should be one of them.

Did you know that many major life changes, including moving to California, may qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period through Covered California?

📅 You may have 60 days from your qualifying life event to enroll in a health insurance plan, even outside the regular Open Enrollment period.

Other qualifying life changes may include:

💚 Losing health coverage due to a job change or other circumstances

💚 Getting married or entering a domestic partnership

💚 Welcoming a new child through birth or adoption

💚 Continuity of care can make all the difference for a family.

When families are working toward greater stability, having to start over—or losing trusted support altogether—can create another barrier at a time when consistency matters most.

Recently, a father receiving in-home services through one of YCCA’s programs faced the possibility of losing that support when funding changes brought the program to an end. He and his Home Visitor advocated for continued services, and because YCCA offers a diverse network of family support programs, our team was able to find another path forward.

Rather than ending services, the family was seamlessly connected to another YCCA home visiting program, allowing the father to continue working with the support of our team without a significant disruption.

Today, he continues to receive home visiting services and is making progress toward completing his CWS court plan and reunification. He also recently received critical employment support—another important step toward creating greater stability for his family.

This is what coordinated family support can look like: meeting families where they are, connecting programs rather than creating silos, and making sure a change in funding or services doesn’t mean a family has to navigate the next step alone.

At YCCA, our programs may provide different services, but they share one goal: helping children and families build stronger, more stable futures. 💚

Meet Yolo Philanthropy Award Honoree St. Joseph Mobile Mall 💚

For years, St. Joseph Mobile Mall has been a valued YCCA partner in serving Yolo County residents—bringing much more than donated items to our community events. They bring choice, dignity, compassion, and a helping hand to neighbors who may be navigating difficult circumstances.

The Mobile Mall, operated by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarksburg, brings gently used clothing and other essentials directly into the community. At events, volunteers transform tables of donated goods into a welcoming “shopping” experience where individuals and families can select the items they need.

YCCA has seen that impact firsthand. At our various community events the Mobile Mall has helped families select clothing and household essentials alongside the other resources available at these event. Their partnership has helped us create an experience that isn't simply about receiving assistance—it's about ensuring families can choose what works for them and leave feeling supported by their community.

That spirit of service is why we are so pleased to recognize St. Joseph Mobile Mall as a 2026 Yolo Philanthropy Award honoree.

Thank you to the volunteers behind the Mobile Mall for continuing to show up, year after year, with generosity and compassion. Our community is stronger because you are part of it.

💙 The power of partnership creates lasting impact.

At YCCA, we know that communities thrive when organizations come together around a shared purpose. We are grateful to our funding partners at the Public Health Institute and Center for Immigrant and Refugee Health for their ongoing partnership and investment in Yolo County’s children and families.

Through YCCA’s Afghan Refugee School Impact—Support to Schools Program, we provided community-based, person-centered support designed to strengthen the academic success of Afghan newcomer youth while helping youth and their families build connections within their communities.

From 2024–2026, this collaboration helped YCCA reach:
🎓 142 students
💚 93 family members

Our work included connecting families to basic needs, strengthening family engagement and empowerment, supporting youth development and school enrollment, and building the capacity of service providers.

These numbers are a powerful reminder of what is possible when funders, community organizations, schools, families, and service providers work together.

A heartfelt thank you to the and Center for Immigrant and Refugee Health for believing in this work and helping us create opportunities for newcomer youth and families to feel supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.
