3. Store Safely: Keep batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

4. Dispose Properly: Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash. Take them to a designated recycling center to ensure safe disposal.

5. Know the Risks: Be aware that damaged batteries can lead to fires or explosions. Always prioritize safety!

Yesterday September 29 City of Davis Fire responded to a grass fire in the area of Levy Road and the causeway. The first unit on scene reported a grass fire with a moderate rate of spread. The fire was eventually upgraded to a 3rd alarm. Units from Davis, UC Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento, West Plainfield, Willow Oak, Dixon and Vacaville all assisted. The fire burned roughly 90 acres and was under control by 8pm, all units were released by 10pm.

There may be a residual smoke smell in the area.

We are aware of a wildfire near the Yolo Bypass Area that is producing visible smoke. At this time, no structures are reported to be involved, and there are no evacuation orders in place.

Battalion 31 was been on assignment at the Timber Fire as Strike Team Leader Trainee since 8/29. The fire is currently just over 25,300 acres with 27% containment. It continues to burn in extremely rugged terrain but luckily has shown little to no growth of the last few days.

Over the next six weeks, they'll learn what it means to be a firefighter in our community—how we do things in Davis, serving with professionalism, compassion and a commitment to never stop learning, both in the classroom and in the field. Welcome to the team!

Remember while fireworks are illegal within the Davis city limits as well in all unincorporated parts of YOLO County.

The good news is that you can take part in the festivities in downtown starting at 4pm.

City offices will be closed this Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. Emergency services remain unaffected.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Red Flag
Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from
5 AM Saturday to 8 PM PDT Monday. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.

* Winds...North winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts 35 to 45 mph, locally up
to 50 mph around the Delta and the far western Sacramento Valley.

* Humidity...Daytime minimum humidities of 7 to 15%; Overnight
maximum relative humidities 30 to 55%.

* Highest Threat...Along and west of the Interstate 5 corridor in
the Sacramento Valley. Strongest winds are expected Saturday
night through Sunday.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can
cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor
burning is not recommended

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

On Sunday March 15th City of Davis Fire and UC Davis Fire responded to a structure fire. First arriving units reported a working fire. Battalion upgraded to a second alarm and units from Woodland and West Sacramento responded to the city to help both at the scene and station coverage.

No injuries were reported and the fire is currently under investigation.
