Commerce Center Drive & York Commons Boulevard – Paving Update

Due to unforeseen circumstances, paving was delayed last week, however, crews are scheduled to begin installing new asphalt on Commerce Center Drive tomorrow and will then move to York Commons Boulevard.

While the northbound side of Commerce Center Drive is being paved, rear entrances to businesses along Commerce Center will be temporarily closed. Business access will remain open from Miller Lane.

Crews will maintain one direction of traffic while the other direction is closed for paving. Delays should be expected while traveling through the business district. Please use caution, be patient, and follow the direction of crews working in the area.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work to complete these improvements!

BTPD officers are at Art Van Atta park near the tennis courts for a German Shepherd dog running at large. It was last seen going into the woods near the courts, and it looked like it had a leash attached. Officers are checking the trails for anyone who might need help. If anyone in the area has lost a German Shepherd or if you know anyone who might be walking one in the park this afternoon, please call dispatch at 937-233-2080. No picture available, officers weren’t able to get close to the dog so far. Thank you.

The Butler Township Police Department has arrested 18-year-old Whitman David Stein of Sidney, Ohio, following a bank robbery at the 5/3 Bank Branch located at 8028 North Dixie Drive this morning.

Stein entered the bank and presented a note to tellers indicating he had a gun, and instructed them to empty their cash drawers. Bank tellers were able to sound a silent alarm as Stein was still inside the bank.

Stein fled the bank and was apprehended on his motorcycle moments later. We extend our thanks to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Dayton Ohio for their immediate assistance in taking Stein into custody.
