🚒 Structure Fire – 2nd Avenue

The City of Dayton Fire Department, along with other first responders, is currently on the scene of a house fire in the 500 block of 2nd Avenue.

Crews are continuing to battle the fire and have worked to protect the surrounding properties, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to three neighboring homes.

We are grateful for the hard work and quick response of all firefighters and first responders assisting at the scene.

Please avoid the area and allow emergency personnel room to work safely.

We want to say a special THANK YOU to all the crews from fire to maintenance and most especially to the electric department who came in after yesterday’s unexpected storms to ensure safe conditions for citizens and restore power.

Our electric crews worked through the night to restore the majority of the power outages. Any remaining outages should be restored by day’s end.

We have the greatest appreciation for these men who sacrifice not only sleep, but also their Labor Day weekend plans to care for our city.

On May 30, the City of Dayton Fire Department conducted a Physical Agility Test Course (PAT) for current firefighters and potential new hires. This timed event is designed to evaluate the physical demands of the job, with each station simulating real-world fireground activities that firefighters may encounter in the line of duty.

The PAT helps ensure that personnel are prepared to safely and effectively perform the critical tasks required to protect lives and property. We appreciate the dedication and hard work of everyone who participated and continue to support the high standards of our Fire Department. 🚒💪
