The Foodbank, Inc. Every dollar donated brings four meals to hungry people in the Miami Valley. The Foodbank brings food, comfort and hope to hungry families in the Dayton area.

For four decades, The Foodbank has been the primary food supplier to the hunger relief network in Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties. Food and related supplies are acquired and distributed to a network of food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, Kids Café sites and school backpack programs that feed the hungry throughout the community. Over 100 nonprofit agencies are members of The Foodbank and provide services through more than 130 feeding programs in the Miami Valley. www.thefoodbankdayton.org

Members of the Solvita Team volunteered onsite with us as a part of their Solving Hunger fundraiser. Forty participants showed up and divided and conquered across multiple Foodbank volunteer opportunities!

The garden group rolled up their sleeves and harvested lettuce, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, as well as helped with our compost initiatives. The warehouse group sorted hundreds of donated food items and created countless Love Notes for children in our Good-To-Go Backpack Program.

Our team is thankful for being selected again as a beneficiary for Solvita’s annual Solving Hunger fundraiser, and for the ongoing support of our mission to Eliminate Hunger and Its Root Causes.

Cars steadily filled the Montgomery County Fairgrounds today as volunteers worked to connect neighbors with food and resources. By the end of the event, 1,162 households had been served through our Montgomery County Mass Food Distribution.

This impact was made possible by CareSource whose sponsorship and team of more than 80 volunteers helped keep the event moving from start to finish.

Attendees also had access to additional resources thanks to SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center, which distributed pet food for families with pets, and Delta Dental of Ohio, which provided toothbrushes to support healthy smiles.

We would like to thank the representative from Commissioner Carolyn Rice's office for stopping by in support of our neighbors and to Dutch Maid Logistics for supplying mixed produce boxes for this event.

October 12th - 16th marks National School Lunch Week!

National School Lunch Week highlights the importance of daily access to healthy food in supporting children's learning and overall well-being, both in and out of the classroom.

As part of our mission to eliminate hunger, The Foodbank supports local K - 3 students in need by providing nutritious meals through our Good-to-Go Backpack program. The Foodbank will host a Pop-Up Mass Food Distribution for Montgomery County and surrounding area residents this Thursday, October 15th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds (645 Infirmary Road, Dayton, OH 45417).

All residents are welcome to attend. This is a drive-thru-style event, so please leave plenty of room in your car for the food to be placed.

Five Rivers Health Centers will have a mobile health clinic onsite offering free flu vaccines, blood pressure screenings, A1C tests, and help establishing primary care. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointments necessary.

SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center will also be there distributing cat and dog food.

Shout-out to CareSource for sponsoring this event and sending volunteers to help us pass out food!

For Tuesday’s show, "Salem: Blood to Drink," they are accepting canned food donations or pay-what-you-can monetary donations instead of standard admission fees.
