We're beginning to see spooky sights and hear creepy sounds around the Library as we prepare for Haunted Library, happening this Saturday, October 24, from 1 to 4 pm. Teens and adults are invited to make their way through the mysterious haunted museum, where the exhibits just might come to life. Will you reach the exit? Dress spookily and enter if you dare...

The haunt begins in Studio 203, where a guide will lead you through the exhibits.

This program is geared for kids in 6th grade and up, but parents and guardians may bring younger children at their own discretion.

We're excited to give you another chance to own or gift colorful DAPL apparel and support your local Library at the same time. DC Imprints is hosting an online store featuring shirts, hats, and tote bags in a variety of styles and colors, all made to order. $10 per item will be donated to the DeForest Area Public Library to support our community programs and services.

The store will be open through November 11. Items will be delivered to the Library for pickup the first week of December. Check the comments below for the link to the online store.

Don't forget - on Saturday, October 17th at 1pm, the Library is hosting a local author panel! After our author panel, there will be a time to meet these wonderful authors and have books signed!

Today marks the much-anticipated return of dragons to the Library's roof. The original wood dragons were showing their age and were beyond repair after guarding the Library's treasures through all kinds of weather. Village of DeForest Public Works staff removed the dragons in August of 2025 to create templates for the crafting and installation of new ones.

The new dragons, while based on the originals, feature some design updates to improve their durability and longevity. They are constructed of PVC composite that is less prone to deterioration, and the tongues of fire feature venting and threaded rods to help them endure windy conditions. Thank you to Jenny of Wrench W***h Worx for crafting the Library's new dragons.
