I’m looking for a few more pen pals to write to our 2nd graders. It’s usually a couple letters per month. It’s a lot of fun and the kids really enjoy it. Our only “requirement” is sticking out the whole year. We don’t want a kid abandoned.

If you’re interested in being a pen pal, please reach out ASAP!

I’ve been a little radio-silent this week. I’m off caring for a friend who had a heart surgery. Everything went well and I’ll be back to the library next Tuesday.

I just wanted to thank Christine and Lauren for keeping the lights on in my absence. This is my first week off since July of 2023 when I became the director, so it’s weird to be away. (Finally get a vacation and this is what I do for fun!🙃) Thanks, ladies, for giving me this time away! See y’all next week!

3rd graders-here’s the move: Get your recommended reading list in one spot at the library. I’ll be adding more titles soon, so stop by and we’ll find you all the right books!

Best of luck in the new year, summer readers! Hopefully, avoiding the “summer slide,” helps you! Have a great school year and remember, the bus stops here after school if you have permission to unwind/recharge with us after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

As we celebrate this life well-lived, we at the Winding Rivers Library System cannot thank Dolly enough for all she's done to put books into the hands of young children.
We are thrilled to announce that beginning on January 4, 2027, every child ages 0-5 who lives in the seven counties of the Winding Rivers Library System will be eligible to get one age-appropriate book mailed to their home each month.
Help us sustain this program for years to come. Any donation helps us honor Dolly’s legacy while giving children in our community the gift of reading.
Your gift is tax-deductible through our 501(c)(3), the Friends of the Winding Rivers Library System, EIN 41-2921900.
