Part Three of our Narcan Educational Series: “How to Administer Narcan”

Yesterday we learned about “Signs of an Opioid Overdose” and how to react in emergency situations. The 6 steps below teach us how to properly administer Narcan if we find ourselves in one of those situations.

It is not uncommon to associate “life-saving medication” with “I’m not trained to do this”. Remember, you do not need to be trained to administer Narcan in an emergency situation. Don’t let your confidence get in the way of potentially saving a life. You are more than capable! 🩷 

‼️ NOTE on Step 6: Narcan CAN be administered to an individual more than once. That being said, it is essential that once you administer the first dose, you wait 2-3 minutes. Those minutes can feel like an eternity in an emergency, but it is essential to allow time for the medicine to do its job before administering more.

Clinton County Health Department has FREE radon test kits for home owners within the county while supplies last. Kits may be picked up at the Satellite office during regular business hours as well as at MercyOne VNA at 611 N 2nd Street in Clinton on MONDAYS from 9-4.
