I returned to my office after my last meeting of the week and found this incredible Henry Ford College carved pumpkin waiting for me. Even more special was the handwritten note from a colleague expressing their desire for me to have something to commemorate my first Halloween as president. (I may have told a handful of folks it’s my favorite holiday.) They also shared how our International Student Services office hosts a pumpkin carving event every year to introduce international students to this uniquely American tradition. Too cool.

Between the pride in our College, the experiences we provide our students, and the love that was poured into such a thoughtful gesture, I was reminded of just how lucky I am to be part of such an amazing institution. Go Hawks!

Thank you to Carhartt CEO Linda Hubbard for surprising Henry Ford College ASSET instructor Kristopher Young with one of Carhartt's 2026 Steel Apple Awards!

As the only program of its kind in the state of Michigan, ASSET allows students to earn an Associate Degree in Automotive Service Technology while receiving on-the-job training at a sponsoring Ford or Lincoln dealership. Alternating between classroom sessions and full-time dealership work, students gain immediate experience applying learned theory in a real-world setting while helping to meet the employment needs of our local business community.

In addition to Kris's award, Carhartt's partnership with NCCER, Ford Philanthropy, and TechForce Foundation resulted in a generous financial donation to his classroom and some great swag for his students. I am grateful that so many organizations recognize and support the transformative work we're doing here at HFC and could not be more proud of the impact our instructors are having on the lives of our students.

Henry Ford College and Grand Valley State University came together at Newlab @ Michigan Central to create 17 new transfer pathways for HFC students to earn a bachelor’s degree from GVSU.

Through these 2+2 and 3+1 arrangements, HFC students can now go on to earn bachelor’s degrees from GVSU in artificial intelligence, computer science, cybersecurity, human-centered computing, information systems, information technology, and software engineering without losing a single credit along the way.

Thank you to GVSU President Philomena Mantella and her team for their exemplary partnership and thank you to the faculty, staff, and administrators at HFC who worked so hard to advocate for and maximize these opportunities for our dedicated students.

When two-year colleges and four-year universities come together with a shared commitment to student success, we can continue to provide the opportunities that students deserve and employers need in Southeast Michigan and beyond.

ACCESS and CHASS are on campus today increasing awareness and support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence by sharing the variety of services and empowerment programs that are available in our local community. I am deeply grateful for our trusted community partners and the resources they provide alongside our dedicated faculty and staff to support Henry Ford College’s commitment to our students.

Earlier this week, Henry Ford College welcomed Garden City Hospital President Saju George to campus for a tour of our state-of-the-art Nursing facilities. I was deeply impressed by the real-time clinical simulation that was conducted by students Julia Skowron and Renee Kubitski, both of whom are leaders in our Student Nurse Association and well on their way to becoming excellent nurses. As we work to develop new learning opportunities within our community and for our students, Henry Ford College will continue to step forward as a trusted partner focused on meeting the needs of our local workforce.

I had a great conversation this morning with Kelli Vanden Bosch, President of the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce, focused on generating new partnerships between the Chamber and Henry Ford College. I’m excited to continue our conversation and develop more opportunities for HFC students while supporting the local business community.

Thank you to our Henry Ford II Honors Program students for such an engaging, candid, and fun conversation about their hopes and expectations for me as a new president. I have truly enjoyed every interaction I’ve had with our students since joining the campus community and find tremendous joy in listening to their stories, celebrating their success, and learning how Henry Ford College is helping to prepare them for the future.

Macomb Community College President Dr. Lori Gonko and I were in attendance to cheer on our respective women’s volleyball teams at tonight’s game in Macomb. The Henry Ford Hawks came up short but played with tenacity and class, representing our school with pride and integrity. Cheers to Coach Chambers and her assistants for the positive impact they are having on our athletes both inside and outside the classroom. I am proud of them all!

Great turnout at this morning’s FORE Golf Outing supporting the Dearborn Education Foundation. As a proud community partner, Henry Ford College would like to express a big thank you to all of the outstanding sponsors, volunteers, and players for going above and beyond to support the students of Dearborn Public Schools!

Henry Ford College would not exist without the support of our local community. Establishing new partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to education and upward mobility will continue to be one of my top priorities.
