🥦 New Nutrition Guidance for Texans! 🍎
The Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee (TNAC) has released Texas’ first state-specific nutrition guidelines—created by Texans, for Texans!
The recommendations focus on practical food choices and minimally processed foods that can support overall health and help reduce the risk of chronic disease.
Here are some of the key recommendations:
🥕 Fill half your plate with vegetables and fruit at each meal—and mix up the colors!
🥚 Include healthy protein sources each day, such as beans, seafood, meat, eggs, and nuts.
🥑 Choose healthy fats from foods like nuts, seeds, fatty fish, olive oil, and avocados.
🥛 Eat foods that support healthy bones and teeth, including sources of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K, magnesium, and protein.
🌾 Choose whole grains when selecting grain-based foods.
💧 Make water your go-to drink when you’re thirsty and reduce sugar-sweetened beverages.
Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean changing everything at once. Small, realistic choices can add up over time!
