✨ One week ago, we filled Atlanta with hope, determination, and the unwavering belief that democracy works best when people show up.

Last week, LWVGA and our coalition partners came together to raise our voices for fair representation and to protect our democracy. And together, we achieved a major victory: lawmakers backed away from mid-cycle redistricting.

This win belongs to every person who marched, advocated, called, emailed, spoke out, and stood shoulder to shoulder in defense of voting rights.

People power is real. Your voice matters. When communities organize, show up, and demand accountability, change happens.

As we look back on this incredible moment, we’re reminded that democracy isn’t something that happens to us—it’s something we build together.

Thank you to everyone who made this victory possible. The work continues, but this moment proves what we can accomplish when we stand united.

It’s been four years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Abortion bans and criminalization threaten more than 14 million women. We must continue to fight for our reproductive freedoms.

🚨 ACTION ALERT — Georgia 🚨
A last-minute amendment (Section 1.1) to SB 3EX would force every county to hand-recount the top two races on every ballot before certifying — and let that hand count override the machines.

🎯 Less accurate than our scanners
💰 Unfunded — counties foot the bill
⏱️ Impossible before the Monday certification deadline

SB 3EX already expands risk-limiting audits — the accurate, affordable way to verify results.

📣 Tell the House Governmental Affairs Committee: reject Section 1.1 in its entirety.

⭐ Is your representative on this committee? Your call counts most — lawmakers listen hardest to their own constituents. Please call AND email today. 📞✉️

🕊️ The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan. We don't oppose election security. We want it done right: accurate, affordable, and on time. Reject the headcount. Keep the audit.

This Juneteenth (June 19, 1865), we reflect on a defining moment in U.S. history when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and announce that enslaved Black Americans were free—more than two years after it was issued. 📜✊🏾

Juneteenth marks both a celebration of freedom and a reminder of the delayed justice endured by generations of African Americans. It is a day to honor resilience, remember history, and recommit to equity and justice. 🕊️

The League of Women Voters of Georgia recognizes this history and continues working toward a democracy where every voice is heard and every person can fully participate. 🗳️
