🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 —

We Remember
Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed that day.
We remember the 2,977 innocent people who never made it home to their families. We remember the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, and other first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away. We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and loved ones who continue to carry their loss.
As firefighters, we are reminded that our calling is bigger than ourselves. We stand ready to answer the call, to serve our neighbors, and to help those in need—no matter the circumstances.
Today, we honor the fallen, remember the sacrifices made, and keep in our hearts the families, friends, and fellow first responders who continue to live with the loss.
May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the spirit of unity that brought our nation together.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Town of Deer Trail Cancels Independence Day Fireworks Display

The Town of Deer Trail has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Independence Day fireworks display following a recommendation from Fire Chief Rich Loveless
The recommendation was based on a comprehensive risk assessment of current fire conditions, including the Stage 2 Burn Ban in Arapahoe County, dry vegetation, current and forecasted weather conditions, and the overall wildfire risk to our community.
While professionally conducted fireworks displays incorporate extensive safety measures, current conditions present an elevated risk for fire ignition and spread. After carefully evaluating those risks, the Fire Chief determined that proceeding with the display would not be in the best interest of public safety.
"This recommendation was not made lightly," said Fire Chief Rich Loveless. "We recognize that the community looks forward to this event each year, but our responsibility is to protect lives, property, and our community. Given the current fire danger, recommending cancellation is the most prudent course of action."
The Town appreciates the community's understanding and support as we work together to reduce the risk of wildfire during this period of elevated fire danger. We encourage everyone to celebrate Independence Day safely and to observe all current fire restrictions.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July.

Yesterday around 3:30pm we were called to High Plains Raceway for a grassfire that started on Highway 36 and was spreading onto the racetrack property.

Due to the Red Flag conditions, automatic aid was requested from Byers Fire Protection District 9, Strasburg Fire Protection Dist., Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue, and Sable Altura Fire Rescue who all responded with apparatus.

The fire quickly spread to a row of stacked tires on the racetrack property and ignited them, causing a large plume of dark smoke that was visible for several miles in all directions. Once crews arrived on scene, the fire was quickly contained to roughly 5 acres, but the tires continued to burn for some time. A safety perimeter was created around the burning tires utilizing multiple fire apparatus and a fire attack helicopter.

Due to the extensive scene, resources from Agate Fire Protection District, North Central Fire Protection District, South Metro Fire, Aurora Fire Rescue, Southwest Washington Fire, AIRLIFE Denver, Colorado State Patrol, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, and Colorado Department of Transportation were called to assist.

Once the fire had dwindled to a safe point, all other units were released from the scene, and Deer Trail units remained to ensure there was no chance of fire spreading to any unburned fuels.

We would like to thank all of the agencies for their assistance on this incident.

FIRE RESTRICTIONS MOVE TO STAGE 1 IN ARAPAHOE COUNTY.

🚫🔥 STAGE 1 BURN BAN – ARAPAHOE COUNTY 🔥🚫

❌ No open burning of any kind without a permit from your fire district.

Why it matters:
Dry conditions, high winds, and warm temperatures can turn even a small spark into a dangerous wildfire. This ban helps protect lives, homes, and our first responders.
