Tonight, members of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department joined neighboring emergency responders for a nighttime search and rescue training exercise at CamRock Park.
With more than 500 acres of wooded trails and recreational areas, CamRock presents unique challenges for emergency responders. From biking and hiking injuries to lost or disoriented individuals, emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time.
Tonight's exercise put communication, coordination, and teamwork to the test. Crews worked together using ATVs, search teams, and drone technology to locate a hidden volunteer playing the role of a missing person. And let's just say, our volunteer was VERY good at hiding! 😄
But that's exactly why we train. A lost child, an injured hiker, or someone disoriented in the woods after calling 911 can quickly become a serious situation, especially after dark.
What makes nights like this even more meaningful? The people who show up.
These firefighters and emergency responders are volunteers. They have full-time jobs, families, and responsibilities, yet they choose to spend their evenings training so they're ready when someone needs help.
That's dedication. That's teamwork. And that's what serving our communities is all about. ❤️
A big thank-you to Cambridge Cambridge WI Fire Department, Marshall Fire Department, Deer-Grove EMS and all the neighboring responders who participated tonight. We're grateful for the opportunity to train together and strengthen the partnerships.
