This week, the Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DCBDD) celebrates our incredible Service and Support Administration (SSA) team!

Our SSAs play a vital role in helping individuals with developmental disabilities live their best lives. From connecting individuals and families with resources and services to advocating for individual needs, promoting independence, and supporting personal goals, our team works every day to make a meaningful difference.

We are grateful for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to empowering individuals to live the lives they choose. Thank you for being a voice, an advocate, and a source of support for the individuals and families we serve!

We’re looking for festive, creative, and holiday-inspired artwork to help us design the 2026 Defiance County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Good Samaritan School holiday card!

Your artwork could be featured on our holiday card! Plus, the selected artists will receive a prize!

Physical therapy (PT) plays an important role in helping people with developmental disabilities build strength, improve mobility, and increase independence.

The benefits of physical therapy include:
Improving balance, coordination, and mobility.
Building strength and endurance.
Supporting independence in everyday activities.
Promoting safety and helping prevent falls.
Encouraging participation in school, work, recreation, and the community.

Physical therapy is about more than movement. It's about helping individuals reach their goals, build confidence, and participate more fully in the activities they love!

This October, we celebrate the physical therapists who help individuals move forward, one step at a time!

Join the newly formed Defiance County Food Council, in collaboration with the Defiance County Health Department, for an Open House next week! Learn more about the mission and vision of the Council, connect with community partners, hear about opportunities to strengthen our local food system. This is open to anyone who is interested! Today is National Stop Bullying Day, a reminder that every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and included at school and in our community.

At Good Samaritan School, we believe in creating a school environment where every student is valued, supported, and treated with kindness.

We are proud members of the Ohio School Safety Center , which provides resources to help keep Ohio students safe. If you or your student has a concern about bullying, threats, harassment, or another school safety issue, the SaferOH Tip Line provides a way to report concerns.

It’s National School Lunch Week, and we’re celebrating the importance of nutritious meals that help our students learn, grow, and have the energy they need for a great day here at Good Samaritan School!

We are so thankful for our amazing food service team who work hard each day to prepare and serve meals for our students. Thank you for helping make lunchtime a special part of the school day!

At Good Samaritan School, we’re proud to provide breakfast and lunch FREE to ALL students through the National School Lunch Program and the Office of Child Nutrition’s Provision 2 program.
