More than 50 students interested in technical careers had a unique opportunity today to gain hands-on experience during Be Pro Be Proud's special mobile workshop tour — a full-size tractor-trailer carrying simulators representing more than 16 highly skilled occupations. With support from Meta, the mobile workshop is visiting DeKalb for the DeKalb Chamber's Trades Exploration Day, which is open to the community today from 3:30-6 p.m. at DeKalb High School. Thank you to everyone involved for welcoming our students into the workshop, providing a tasty lunch, and offering an opportunity to learn more about technical careers from a panel of experts!

🚌On National School Bus Safety Week, let's remember some important safety measures:

🛑🚦For motorists: When red lights flash and the stop arm is out, traffic in both directions must stop at least 20 feet away. Illegally passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and will lead to hefty fines and penalties.

🎒🚶For students: Stay at least 10 feet away from the street while waiting for the bus. When boarding, wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching—walk, don't run. Never crawl under the bus if you drop something; instead, tell the driver.

🗣 For parents: Talk to your kids about school bus safety!

Thank you to all the bus drivers and monitors who transport our students safely to and from school and after-school activities every day.

National School Lunch Week!

This week, we thank all of the hard workers who make sure our students get delicious and nutritious lunches each and every day.

DID YOU KNOW?

At Huntley Middle School and Clinton Rosette Middle School, they also make food for some of the elementary schools! CRMS makes the food for Littlejohn, Brooks, and Jefferson, while Huntley prepares for Tyler, Founders, and Lincoln.

In September, on average, 3426 breakfasts and 4690 lunches were served daily district-wide! Thank you to all of our Food Service team and OrganicLife, LLC: smart foodservice!

🎉Congratulations are in order for our very own Bradley Becker, winner of RAMP's Educator of the Year award! Mr. Becker's dedication to helping DeKalb High School students in special education programs overcome barriers, learn valuable hands-on skills, and prepare for life after high school is just a small part of what earned him this well-deserved nomination and win.
