Walk To School Day with the Coronado Beach Elementary community was an absolute success. Thank you to the amazing Coronado Beach PTA and Florida Department of Transportation for making this a wonderful experience for our kids!

Volusia County Schools is actively working with Volusia County Emergency Management to monitor the Tropical Storm Watch in effect today for parts of Volusia County in response to Tropical Depression 9.

While the storm is expected to bring rain and wind to the area, the cyclone is forecasted to remain about 100 miles offshore before moving further east away from the coast. It is not forecasted to make landfall in Florida.

All school operations, including buses and afterschool activities, will continue as usual this week. The sustained wind speeds are not forecasted to impact the operation of buses. Again, classes will take place tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 29, as normal.

We will provide any further weather updates as necessary via email, text, social media, and the VCS website.

There is not a better feeling than the excitement of a new school year! This is going to be a great first week in District 3 and all throughout Volusia County Schools!
