Join us as we present one of our scholar’s MFE research on La Bomba de Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Also hear from our Rinker Scholars who will share their learning experiences from Oaxaca, Mexico. 🇲🇽 🎨🪇

Over Spring Break, students in the Latin American and Latino Studies Mentored Field Experience (led by Dr. Ankeny) traveled to Puerto Rico. Throughout the semester, they’ve been researching topics connected to the island’s history, culture, and communities. This immersive experience gave them the chance to engage with Puerto Rican culture firsthand while gathering insights and perspectives for their projects. 🇵🇷

Students in the Voices of Oaxaca: Studies in Indigenous Practices, Activism, and Advocacy course (led by Dr. Petrovic and Dr. Deckman) spent spring break learning directly from community leaders, artists, and activists in Oaxaca Mexico. From a ceramic workshop and printmaking with local artists to conversations with NGOs about land defense and community advocacy, every experience deepened their understanding of Indigenous knowledge and resistance.

They hiked with a Zapotec community to learn about medicinal plants, shared a communal cooking experience, explored local markets, and visited the ancient Zapotec city of Monte Albán.

Our marketing students in Dr. Azab's MKTG 190/390 class spent the week of spring break experiencing the world of luxury, wine, and services marketing firsthand in Bordeaux, France — from learning about luxury branding with a guest speaker from Dior, to exploring the business of wine at a local vineyard and in the nearby historic village of Saint-Émilion.

They also visited incredible cultural spaces like Bassins des Lumières and La City du Vin, took a French cooking class, created their own signature scents in a perfume workshop, and even fit in a day trip to Paris 🇫🇷
