The Florida Freedom Tour is in full swing at the Melbourne Square Mall in Brevard County! We're here until 4 p.m. Tuesday, so come catch a glimpse of some of the unique history that makes Florida special! Before you see visible improvements to any road, crews often start with work underground, ensuring proper drainage and utility functions. This crew is preparing for a project that will upgrade traffic signals and sidewalks at Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441) and Clarcona-Ocoee Road in Orange County. 🚦
These improvements will enhance driver visibility and pedestrian access, and this isn't the only work taking place in the dark around Central Florida. By completing work overnight, crews are able to limit daytime traffic impacts like lane closures and increased congestion.
So next time you're wondering when construction will happen, there's a good chance it's taking place overnight!

The Florida Freedom Tour is headed to Marion County! Join the celebration at Silver Springs State Park on Monday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This mobile museum initiative, in honor of America's 250th anniversary, will showcase exhibits and artifacts from the Museum of Florida History. Learn more at america250fl.com/ and follow America250FL.
Relief is on the way for truck drivers along the I-4 corridor. Supported by a $180 million INFRA grant from the Federal Highway Administration, FDOT has broken ground on five new truck parking sites that are expected to open in Central Florida by 2028.
These new sites in Seminole, Volusia, Orange, and Osceola counties will support safer conditions and less wages lost for truck drivers, who transport 95% of the goods made in Florida.
Together, we are making our roads safer and more efficient for all while continuing to strengthen Florida’s supply chain and economy.

FDOT District Five has received the 2026 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Florida Outstanding Project Development and Environment (PD&E)/Planning Project of the Year Award for its U.S. 17-92 PD&E Study!
This study, which evaluated the widening of U.S. 17-92 in Osceola County, reimagined the corridor to improve safety, expand capacity, and strengthen connections for the future. It evaluated multiple alignments, protected historic and natural resources, and incorporated a shared-use path, roundabout, and traffic-calming measures tailored to a rural community, all while balancing innovation, partnership, and environmental stewardship.
The project looks to repurpose the existing Reedy Creek bridge and an abandoned, historic segment of U.S. 17-92, achieving Florida’s first Net Benefit Section 4(f) determination, meaning the replacement of the historic bridges will leave the area better off overall than if it were to remain as is.

FDOT has broken ground on a new truck parking site in Seminole County, the first of five in the region that are expected to help alleviate the truck parking shortage upon completion.
With up to 20,000 truck drivers traveling on I-4 in Central Florida daily, the additional parking spaces will help improve safety, reduce congestion, and strengthen the supply chain.
This site and two Volusia sites are expected to open in 2027, followed by sites in Orange and Osceola counties in 2028.
