Donations Sought for Delano Library Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Delano Library are once again collecting gently used books for their Used Book Sales. The next sale will be a mini, cash donation only sale from November 30th through December 5th.
We are especially in need of gently used fiction titles and children’s titles.
Materials that are NOT acceptable include magazines, Reader’s Digests, National Geographic issues, any book sets or partial sets, encyclopedias, VHS format, cassette formats, and any book that has torn pages, writing in it, or has yellowed pages. Unacceptable books must be culled and thrown away before donating or this will create extra work for volunteers who will end up throwing the unwanted books away. If you have more than 3-4 boxes or bags of books to donate, please call the library beforehand to arrange an appointment. Items in small bags or boxes are much appreciated. Books will be accepted until March 21st, 2027.
The Delano Public Library is open on Monday from 10-6, Tuesday from 10-8, Wednesday and Thursday from 10-6, Friday from 10-6, and Saturday from 10-1 p.m. Book donations can be dropped off at the library during these open hours. Phone is 763-972-3467.

The Friends of the Delano Library would like to invite all types of artists to display their art work in October, 2026 when the Friends will sponsor a library art exhibit highlighting art that depicts Delano 150 years ago.

As part of the Sesquincentennial Delano celebrations, the library exhibit will highlight art work, photos, quilts, woodworking, fiber and glass works that use materials and/or techniques that were popular 150 years ago! As well, any art, including decorative art that you may own from that era is also welcome.

We want you to know about this exhibit so you can get started creating artwork that reproduces or depicts the life and surroundings of Delano in 1876.

Some ideas are perforated paper crafts, painting ceramics, sepia photos, pocket watch pockets, needle books, wool embroidery anything in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement and anything in miniature. If you need more ideas, please consider browsing through the libraries' extensive collection of Delano Eagle newspapers, visit the Delano Franklin Township Area Historical Center in Delano, or peruse Godey’s Lady’s book online.

Because we would like this to be a big all inclusive art exhibit, the Friends have decided not to have a quilt show, nor a separate photography show this year. Please use your time to create something truly amazing for our October, 2026 show.

All art work can be dropped off at the Delano Public Library before the October 3rd deadline.
