Rest Easy, Brother.
Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of one of our fellow firefighters from Iberia Parish Fire District 1.
The fire service is more than a job — it’s a brotherhood built on courage, sacrifice, and standing beside one another when our communities need us most. Tonight, we stand beside the family, friends, and brothers and sisters of Iberia Parish Fire District 1 as they grieve this tremendous loss.
From all of us at Delcambre Volunteer Fire Department, our deepest condolences and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to protecting others.
Rest easy, Brother. Your watch is over. We’ll take it from here.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of one of our own. Jonathan Dunbar tragically passed away early Sunday morning.
Jonathan was a captain on C shift, with 14 dedicated years of service. He brought great knowledge to the fire service, hard work, drive, and earned respect among his crew. His leadership and strong personality will be deeply missed. We will remember Dunbar, as we knew him, from all of his years of service, the brotherhood, and the close relationships formed through time. He will be remembered when we climb upon the truck every shift, and may we honor his service every time.
All of our thoughts and prayers at this time are with his wife, his children, and his family as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. We are deeply saddened at this devastating tragedy. We are grateful for the many years we were given to have known him. May he rest in peace.
