In our newest How Did You Get to Where You Are? feature, we catch up with Delphi alumnus Dr. Kain Myer, an optometrist at Norman & Miller Eyecare, to learn about the experiences, mentors, and skills that helped shape his career in healthcare.

From spending summers working at Norman & Miller Eyecare to completing his education and clinical training, Dr. Myer shares how a strong work ethic, communication, and hands-on experience helped him turn an early interest in science into a rewarding career serving his hometown community.

Where Are They Now? | DCSC Alumni

Meet Delphi graduate Dr. Kain Myer, an optometrist at Norman and Miller Eye Care, serving patients in Monticello and Delphi.

After graduating from Delphi in 2017, Kain attended Indiana University Bloomington, where he completed his undergraduate studies and optometry education before returning to his hometown to begin his career.

In this conversation, Kain reflects on how his involvement in athletics, Delphi Bracketology, Parnassus and other school activities helped him develop the communication, teamwork and leadership skills he uses today. He also shares how the support of teachers, coaches and the Delphi community influenced his journey and helped him discover his career path.

Watch to hear Kain’s story and his advice to today’s Delphi students: step outside your comfort zone, explore new opportunities and don’t be afraid to make mistakes along the way.

Oracles in Action - DCHS Work Based Learning

DCHS senior Ethan McIlrath is gaining valuable hands-on experience at Mac’s Pro Wash, where he is learning the ins and outs of running a family-owned business while building his customer service, communication, and business skills.

Through work-based learning, Ethan is preparing for his future, with plans to attend Ivy Tech for business classes while continuing to work alongside his family, with the possibility of one day taking over the business.
