The Village Of Delta, Delta Marshal’s Office and Delta Vol Fire Dept, sends condolences to the family of Mr Clinton Wade Hargrave. We ask you to keep the Hargrave family in your prayers. He will be truly miss.

5:45 update. All lanes open.

5:21pm update: left lane is open at this time. Lots of police & fire crews on scene.

I-20 East Bound in Tallulah at the 176 mile marker is shut down in both lanes for a short time. We’ve got multiple Fire Departments on scene & some still en route to several grass fires along I-20. These fires span from the 176-180 mile markers. There are fires on both the right shoulder & in the center median. Traffic is being diverted to Highway 80 at the mile post 171 (Tallulah exit). It is very Smokey even on the West Bound side. Please drive slowly through this area as first responders try to get this under control.

18-Wheeler trailer on fire I-20 West Bound at the 178 mile marker. Both lanes are shut down at this time so the Fire Department can extinguish this safely!! Use caution & expect some slight delays.

Update!!!

Suspect name is Dale Olbert 59 years old W/M.

On August 23, 2026 at 2250 hours Marshal David Beckham was dispatched to a residence in Delta, in reference to a sexual battery of a juvenile under the age of 13. Upon his arrival he spoke to everyone at the residence and determined he had enough evidence to call The Center of Children & Family’s. The earliest date available was September 8th. Once the interview was over with the children, enough evidence was secured. Marshal David Beckham then got an arrest warrant for the suspect. On the night of September 10, 2026, Marshal Beckham and Madison Parish Sheriff Office deputies was able to make an arrest on the suspect for two counts of sexual battery to a juvenile under age of 13. He was then transported to the Madison Parish Jail for booking on a $300,000 bond. The Delta Marshal would like to thank the Madison Parish Sheriff Deputies for assisting in the apprehension of the suspect.

Today at 3:17pm, Delta Volunteer Fire Department was paged out for an 18-Wheeler that the cab was fully engulfed in flames located at the 187.8MM, Westbound just as you get off the Mississippi River Bridge. With the assistance from the Tallulah Fire Department & the Warren County Fire Department, we were able to get it contained & eventually off the road. A HUGE Thank you to Tallulah Fire Department & Warren County Fire Department for the assist with water, tools & manpower.

Everyone in Madison parish please be aware a burn ban is in effect until further notice.

Madison Parish Police Jury President Jane Sanders issued a temporary parishwide burn ban Tuesday, Aug. 18, because of dry conditions and the risk of brush and forest fires.
