I saw this post earlier (2nd picture), and frankly, I found it disgusting. Depicting Nancy Miller this way does nothing to help residents understand the issues or move our county forward. We can discuss campaign contributions and ask tough questions without resorting to degrading images and personal attacks.

This is one of the many reasons I respect Nancy. She continues to take the high road and keep her campaign positive. That speaks volumes about her character and the leadership she offers.

My support for Nancy comes from working alongside her. I have personally witnessed her dedication to addressing flooding, not just in her city, but throughout Volusia County.

As Mayor of Deltona, I have also seen the time and attention she has given our residents. In my experience, she has been more present and engaged with Deltona than anyone else who has run or is running for this County Council At Large seat. That matters to me.

Mayor Nancy Miller, thank you for staying focused on the people and refusing to respond in kind. We can disagree without tearing each other down.

I believe no one will work harder for our county than Nancy Miller. She has my respect, my confidence, and my support.

Vote Nancy Miller for Volusia County Council At-Large !

From the City of Deltona, Florida:

Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Utility Department will be conducting smoke testing in the area Lake Helen Osteen Rd. from Sable Ave. to Kimberly Dr. See the attached map for the exact area.

This test is being performed as a proactive measure by City staff to test for ground water infiltration in the underground sewer piping system. This process uses an odorless smoke that leaves no residual or stains and has no adverse effects on people, plants, or animals.

The test generally lasts about 15 minutes. During the test, smoke is expected to be visible coming out of manhole covers and vent stacks in roofs, but should not enter through the home plumbing system.

If smoke is noticeable in a home, it may be because of a dry trap in the plumbing. Running the faucet for a few seconds should correct the issue. If not, a license plumber should be contacted as there may be an issue with the internal plumbing of the home.

Orange door tags have been placed on the doors of residents that are in the area of the work being performed. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Customer Service at (386) 575-6800.

Today, I exercised one of our greatest rights as Americans. I VOTED! 🇺🇸

And since there has been so much discussion, concern, and what I believe is unnecessary fear surrounding Amendment 3, I wanted to share exactly where I stand.

I voted YES on Amendment 3! The same position I publicly endorsed when this amendment was proposed.

I support Governor Ron DeSantis and his continued push to provide meaningful property tax relief to Florida homeowners. Families deserve relief, especially as the cost of living continues to rise.

Amendment 3 proposes increasing the homestead exemption for non school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, with inflation adjustments thereafter. It would also lower the annual assessment increase cap on non homestead properties from 10% to 5%.

But let me address something particularly important to me: OUR FIRST RESPONDERS!

Throughout my nearly four years as Mayor of the City of Deltona, Florida, I have consistently supported our Sheriff’s Deputies, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers. That commitment has NEVER changed, and it NEVER will!

Amendment 3 specifically identifies public safety, including law enforcement, fire services, and emergency medical services, as authorized uses of property tax revenue.

I recognize that there are legitimate questions about how reduced property tax revenue could affect local budgets. Those concerns deserve thoughtful planning and responsible leadership, not dismissal.

I would NEVER knowingly support anything intended to hurt the brave men and women who protect our families and communities. My commitment is to both responsible tax relief and properly funded public safety services.

As Mayor, I’ve worked to reduce Deltona’s property tax rate year after year, culminating in our first full rollback rate in more than a decade. I’ve also supported responsible budgeting, reducing debt, and protecting essential services.

I believe we can continue pursuing meaningful tax relief while making public safety a priority.

My vote reflects my convictions, my record of fiscal responsibility, and my belief that government must always be accountable to the taxpayers it serves.

God Bless Deltona, God Bless Florida, and God Bless America! 🇺🇸

Another exciting addition to our growing City of Deltona, Florida!

Today, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the brand new Culver's on Howland Boulevard, bringing another great dining option to our residents and continuing the commercial growth we’ve worked so hard to bring to our city!

Although I wasn’t able to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony, I made it a point to stop by personally to congratulate the team and welcome them to Deltona!

As I’ve always said, as long as I have the privilege of serving as your Mayor, I will continue showing up, supporting our businesses, and working to open doors for future opportunities in our community!

A special thank you to the Deltona & Greater West Volusia Chamber of Commerce for helping celebrate this exciting milestone, County Councilman David Santiago and to City Commissioner Emma Santiago, who represents this district, and Commissioner Chris Nabicht for attending and showing their support!

It’s always exciting to see businesses investing in Deltona, creating jobs, and giving our residents more options right here at home!

And don’t forget, Culver’s officially opens to the public on Monday, November 2, at 10:30 AM!

Stop by, welcome them to Deltona, and enjoy one of their famous ButterBurgers!

Our city continues to grow, and there’s so much more to look forward to!

What a wonderful celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at the Florida Governor’s Mansion yesterday!

I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis for hosting such a special celebration honoring the countless contributions of the Hispanic community to our great state and the United States of America!

As someone who proudly embraces my Cuban and Mexican heritage, it is always meaningful to see our culture, traditions, history, and accomplishments celebrated at this level. While I take tremendous pride in my heritage and the roots that have helped shape who I am, I am beyond blessed and incredibly proud to be an American FIRST! I am grateful to live in a nation where people from so many different backgrounds can come together, pursue the American Dream, and contribute to making the greatest country in the world even greater!

I especially enjoyed the many conversations with individuals from across our great state. Every opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections is an opportunity to create new possibilities for our community.

It was also AWESOME to see one of my BEST friends, Abraham López, President of The Florida Debate Initiative! One of the greatest blessings along this journey has been the friendships I’ve built, and getting to spend time with a great friend like Abraham made this special occasion even better!

And even as my time as Mayor of the City of Deltona, Florida comes to an end, my commitment to our city remains unchanged. One of my priorities during these final days is to continue opening doors and building relationships so that whoever becomes our next Mayor has a foundation to build upon with the next administration in Tallahassee.

Leadership is not just about what we accomplish while holding office. It is also about the opportunities we leave behind for those who come after us.

Another highlight of the celebration was seeing the talented students and dedicated teachers recognized for their incredible artwork and essays celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! What a wonderful reminder of the importance of educating our children about the history, culture, and contributions that have helped shape our nation. Congratulations to all the award recipients!

Maria Elena and I are always grateful for the opportunity to represent our beautiful City of Deltona at these special events.

Thank you again, Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, for the gracious invitation, the warm hospitality, and a memorable celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Our heritage is part of our story, our children are our future, and our commitment to serving others is what brings it all together!

God Bless Deltona, God Bless Florida, and God Bless America! 🇺🇸

Congratulations to our very first group of Superstar Students of the new school year!

This past Monday evening was a little bittersweet for me, as it marked my final Superstar Students recognition as Mayor of our great City of Deltona, Florida.

Of all the wonderful traditions I’ve had the privilege of being part of over the past four years, recognizing our Superstar Students has truly been one of my absolute favorites!

There is something incredibly special about watching these young students stand proudly before the City Commission, surrounded by their families, teachers, and loved ones, as we celebrate their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments.

Seeing the smiles on their faces and the pride in their parents’ eyes has always reminded me why investing in our children and recognizing their achievements is so important.

While this may have been my final opportunity to recognize our Superstar Students as Mayor, I sincerely hope this wonderful tradition continues for many years to come. Our children deserve to be celebrated, encouraged, and reminded that their community believes in them!

To all of our Superstar Students, congratulations! You make Deltona proud, and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish!

Keep dreaming big, working hard, and reaching for the stars. Never forget that your future is filled with endless possibilities!

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of celebrating our future leaders over these past four years. It has truly been one of the greatest joys of serving as your Mayor!

What an incredible honor and privilege!

I am truly grateful to once again receive an invitation from Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis, to join them at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee for a special celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Maria Elena and I are always honored to represent the great City of Deltona, Florida at these special occasions, and this invitation is particularly meaningful to us as we celebrate the rich history, culture, traditions, and contributions of the Hispanic community throughout our great state and nation.

As someone who takes tremendous pride in my Cuban and Mexican heritage, I have always believed that our diversity of backgrounds, our shared values, our faith, and our commitment to family are among the many things that make our communities so special.

Throughout my time as Mayor, it has been a blessing to represent not only the residents of Deltona, but also to celebrate the opportunities that make the American Dream possible for so many families, including my own.

Thank you, Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, for once again extending this gracious invitation and for recognizing the many contributions of Florida’s Hispanic community.

Maria Elena and I look forward to another wonderful celebration and are proud to represent our beautiful City of Deltona!

God Bless Deltona, God Bless Florida, and God Bless America! 🇺🇸

As Mayor of the City of Deltona, Florida, one thing has never changed and never will: my unwavering support for the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities.

To our Sheriff’s Deputies, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers, I want you to know how deeply grateful I am for everything you do.

While most of us go about our daily lives, you are answering calls, responding to emergencies, saving lives, and making sacrifices that often go unseen. You miss holidays, birthdays, and precious moments with your families so that others can be safe.

Throughout my time as Mayor, I have made it a priority to stand alongside our first responders, recognize their sacrifices, and support the important work they do every single day.

Here in Deltona, we don’t just say we support our first responders. We stand WITH them, we stand BEHIND them, and we will ALWAYS have their backs!

To every first responder and to the families who stand beside them, THANK YOU! Your service, courage, and dedication will never go unnoticed or unappreciated.

May God continue to bless you, protect you, and bring you home safely after every shift.

God Bless Our First Responders, God Bless Deltona, and God Bless America! 🇺🇸

Honoring Those Who Served Our Nation!

During Monday evening’s City Commission meeting, I had the distinct honor of recognizing Thomas A. Snyder, a retired Telephone Technician Chief with the United States Coast Guard, for his dedicated service to our great nation.

It was a privilege to personally present Mr. Snyder with a Certificate of Recognition as a small token of our community’s appreciation for his service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our country.

I have always believed that we can never do enough to thank the brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Their dedication and sacrifices have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy every single day.

Mr. Snyder, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our country! The City of Deltona, Florida is proud to honor you!

Please join me in thanking Mr. Snyder for his service to our great nation!

Today was another exciting opportunity to explore what the future of healthcare could look like for our youngest residents in the City of Deltona, Florida!

Earlier today, Economic Development Director John Cox, Commissioners Santiago and Heriot, and I visited Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona, where we met with members of their executive leadership team. The executives graciously gave us a tour of their impressive facilities and took the time to discuss the possibilities of expanding pediatric healthcare services into Deltona.

As I prepare to leave office after nearly four years of serving our great city, one of my hopes has been to help open the doors for a 24 hour pediatric urgent care facility in Deltona, with the long term vision of potentially bringing even more comprehensive children’s healthcare services, including the possibility of a children’s hospital, to our community.

As a father of two young daughters, this initiative is especially close to my heart. Our families deserve reliable, accessible pediatric healthcare without having to travel far from home when their children need medical attention.

While there is still work to be done, I am encouraged by the conversations taking place and the relationships we continue to build. My time as Mayor may be coming to an end, but my commitment to Deltona and its future certainly is not.

Sometimes leadership is not about being there to cut the ribbon. It is about opening the doors of opportunity so that others can carry the vision forward.

I want to sincerely thank the executives and entire Nemours team for their hospitality, for personally showing us their facilities, and for taking the time to discuss what the future could hold for the children and families of Deltona.

I may not be in office to see this vision become a reality, but I hope today’s conversations help lay the foundation for something that will benefit generations of Deltona families.

Our children are our future, and they deserve nothing less than our very best!
