⚖️ WHO ARE THE JUDGES ON YOUR BALLOT?

When you vote in the November 3, 2026 General Election, you'll see several judges listed for retention. But how do you know anything about them?

There's a resource to help you make an informed decision!

Since Iowa adopted its merit-based judicial selection system in 1962, the Iowa State Bar Association has conducted a Judicial Performance Review every two years to provide voters with information about judges up for retention.

The review includes:
✅ A short biography and professional background of each judge
✅ Performance evaluations based on anonymous surveys of Iowa attorneys
✅ Results covering areas such as legal knowledge, fairness, impartiality, and professionalism

📍 Crawford County is located in Judicial District 3B.

To learn more about the judges appearing on your ballot:

🔗 Visit www.iowabar.org
➡️ Click on Publications
➡️ Select Judicial Evaluations
➡️ View the 2026 Judicial Performance Review and find District 3B, along with the statewide Court of Appeals judges.

Remember: Judicial retention elections are not races between candidates. You're simply voting YES or NO on whether each judge should remain in office.

The Crawford County Auditor's Office encourages voters to review the available information before heading to the polls. An informed voter is a prepared voter! 🇺🇸

This information is provided for voter education only and is not an endorsement of any judge.

💜 Wearing Purple for a Purpose! 💜

Today, the Crawford County Auditor’s Office is wearing purple in recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to show our support for Iowa’s Safe at Home program.

Safe at Home provides a confidential address for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other qualifying crimes, helping protect their privacy and safety while allowing them to stay connected to important services, including voting.

💜 Everyone deserves to feel safe. Today, we wear purple to show our support for survivors and remind them they are not alone.

🗳️ ELECTION FACT CHECK: Let's Clear Up Some Confusion!

You may have seen claims that if a poll worker writes anything on your ballot, your vote won't count. This is misleading!

✅ Here's the FACT: Under Iowa Code §49.82, election officials are actually required by law to initial your ballot before handing it to you. These initials do NOT invalidate your ballot!

✅ Notice an unusual mark? Ask an election official for clarification before casting your ballot.

✅ Make a mistake while voting? No worries! You can return your spoiled ballot and receive a replacement.
