🎃👻 HALLOWEEN SAFETY: KEEP THE FRIGHTS FUN! 👻🎃

Halloween is just around the corner, and the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office wants to remind everyone that a little preparation can help keep Halloween fun, safe, and memorable for the whole family!

Before heading out for a night of tricks and treats, remember these important safety tips:

🔦 Light Up the Night! Carry flashlights or glow sticks and add reflective materials to costumes so drivers can easily see you.

🧙 Costume Safety Matters! Choose flame-resistant costumes that fit properly and don't obstruct vision or create tripping hazards.

🚸 Watch for Little Monsters! Cross streets at intersections, use sidewalks when available, and always look both ways. Drivers, slow down and stay alert for excited trick-or-treaters!

🎃 Keep the Scares, Not the Flames! Use battery-operated candles or LED lights in jack-o'-lanterns and decorations. Keep decorations away from heat sources and exits.

🍬 Check Those Treats! Parents and guardians should inspect candy and treats before children dig into their Halloween haul.

🏠 Make Your Home Trick-or-Treat Friendly! Keep walkways clear, turn on exterior lights, and make sure decorations don't create trip or fire hazards.

Halloween should be full of costumes, candy, laughter, and maybe a few good scares — but emergencies shouldn't be one of them!

From all of us at the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office, have a SAFE, FUN, and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween!

Yes, that was actually rain yesterday for some of us at least.
No, it did not cancel the burn ban.

Denton County is still experiencing extreme drought conditions, and vegetation remains very dry despite the brief “wetness from the sky.”

🔥 Burn ban remains in effect
🚫 No outdoor burning

Welding, cutting, and grinding can quickly start a wildfire when conditions are dry.

Before beginning hotwork, make sure all required safety measures are in place—including proper enclosures, a 20-foot combustible-free area, dedicated fire watch, and an available pressurized water source.

Remember: Wind must be 22 mph or less and relative humidity must be above 20%.
