From Casitas, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and single family homes to navigation centers, day care centers, and shelters, Solid Earth Communities builds strong, stable structures designed to not only meet the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, but also healing spaces that provide room for communities to thrive. Our professional “Earth Home Specialist” architects, will create an environmentally sustainable home design and then SEC will proudly build an affordable home that is not only energy efficient but also water proof, sound proof, fire proof, earthquake resistant and mold proof! When you are in one of our compressed earth block homes, you are in a comfortable, sustainable home. A basic solution to homelessness is housing. Currently housing needed far exceeds homes available. Nationally, it is estimated that we are 4.1 million units short of needed affordable and very low-income housing units, to include the number of units needed to end homelessness. If we are to build and repurpose our way out of America's housing crisis, we need innovation. That’s what we provide through Solid Earth Communities. We are a nonprofit organization developed to achieve affordable and “Environmentally Green” homes for the nation. When you are in one of our compressed earth block homes, you are in a comfortable, affordable, sustainable home. No matter whether a Compressed Earth Block home is a basic home or a high-end home, the benefits are the same. Monthly heating and cooling expenses are substantially decreased, as well as the upkeep of the house, which decreases over time, unlike a traditional "stick" house. The environment is not impacted since the blocks are cured in the sun, not fired like cement blocks and bricks. There is also minimal wood used in the construction of a CEB home. SEC works directly with community leaders and other nonprofit organizations to create a local, well paid workforce that invests in their future. In the end, we expect to have a comprehensive understanding of your needs strengths, challenges, and opportunities that will inform future housing decisions in the long-term. Film Premier just announced for the Star-Studded film "CinemAbility" in Lincoln, NE at the Marcus Lincoln Grand Cinema Theaters!
The Art of Inclusion reveals a compelling and often amusing look at the history of disability and portrayals in entertainment. This film goes behind-the-scenes with some of Hollywood’s A-List stars, directors, producers and studio heads, exploring the history of disability portrayals in the media and the impact honest media characterizations have on real life inclusive opportunities for marginalized minority groups. This film has an all-star cast with Ben Affleck, Jamie Foxx, Jane Seymour, Jon Voight, Helen Hunt, Bryan Cranston, Beau Bridges and many others, all chronicling disability in the film industry over the last 100 years!
This fundraising event will feature both CinemAbility and an award-winning short film titled Pieces of Life, by director and producer Margaret Sanchez. Both directors will be in attendance for the VIP reception on July 15, 2022 - more to come, get excited!
