Congratulations to Laura Wing on her 32-year career dedicated to serving Thornton’s water customers! Thanks to Laura’s vision and ex*****on, Thornton residents are some of the most water efficient residents across the state. Under her leadership, Thornton’s popular and successful Water Efficiency Program has resulted in a 30% reduction in per person water use since 2002.



After several years working in Thornton’s Water Quality Lab, Laura joined the Water Resources Division in 2002 as a Water Resources Analyst. In 2005, Laura dove into the water conservation pool and never looked back. Laura has been a member of the Colorado WaterWise Board of Directors since 2006, helping to establish Thornton as a regional leader in water conservation. Laura received multiple city awards in her career, including Thornton Employee of the Year in 2010 and the Infrastructure Department Employee of the Year in 2021.



Laura set and achieved a high bar for her work, and she is known and appreciated by her colleagues for her compassion, thoroughness, commitment and humor. Congratulations on your retirement, Laura! And thank you for your incredible dedication and contribution to the Thornton community!

💼 What You’ll Do:
As a Guest Relations Specialist, you’ll be the face of the facility — greeting visitors, answering questions, resolving issues, and ensuring our guests have a seamless and positive experience. Key responsibilities include:
✔️ Delivering outstanding front desk service, including check-ins, equipment rentals, room reservations, and program registration
✔️ Performing accurate cash handling, including daily balancing and reporting
✔️ Communicating clearly and courteously in person and over the phone
✔️ Enforcing facility policies while maintaining a welcoming environment

After 24 years of dedicated service to the City of Thornton, we celebrate the retirement of Shane Brownell. Shane has been an integral part of our Information Technology team, starting as a Helpdesk Technician and progressing to the role of Systems Engineer.

- Maintain parks, open spaces, trails, and other municipal grounds.
- Perform arboricultural duties, including tree, shrub, and flower care.

**Hours:** Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Hours may vary based on events or project needs.)

**Education/Experience Requirements:**
- **Park Maintenance Specialist I:** High school diploma or GED; 12 months related experience (Grounds maintenance, forestry, or horticulture preferred).
- **Park Maintenance Specialist II:** High school diploma or GED; 3 years of related experience in park, grounds maintenance, or related fields.

**Licensing/Certifications:**
Valid Colorado driver’s license (safe driving record); CDL preferred.
Ability to obtain certification(s) outlined in job posting below.

**Pay Range** $25.54-$38.60
