You might run your own business, but life doesn’t stop when work gets busy.
Maybe you need time to take your mom to her doctor’s appointments, or your chronic illness takes you out for weeks at a time.
Self-employed workers shouldn’t have to lose income when life gets in the way of work. That’s why they can choose to opt in to FAMLI and get up to 12 weeks of paid leave when it matters most. 💙
If you’re self-employed or work for an opted out local government, you can opt in today on the Colorado FAMLI website.

Meet Mike: a FAMLI Customer Care Representative bringing fun dad vibes to our Contact Center.
Mike was a mechanic for 26 years, and when his son was born, he had only 2 weeks of unpaid leave to be home for the newborn stage. Now at the FAMLI Contact Center, he helps other Coloradans get the 12 weeks of paid leave that they deserve.
He also runs a “Boot Camp for New Dads” in his free time, where he teaches everything from swaddling to signing up for bonding leave. Naturally, he’s the perfect person to guide dads calling in to FAMLI. 📞
“Congratulations! Your life is about to change in a weird, wonderful way,” he tells them.
Mike cares about each and every person who calls the FAMLI Contact Center, because he understands where they’re coming from. That’s why he’s this month’s Face of FAMLI. 💙

Before FAMLI benefits began, Colorado workers who couldn’t take time off to see a doctor were 3x more likely to report fair or poor health than those who could.
Now, more than 200,000 Coloradans have taken paid leave to care for their own medical condition.
That’s hundreds of thousands of people who were able to care for their health when they needed it most, without losing a paycheck. 💙
That’s the difference that paid leave makes.
