The doors are finally opening.

We celebrated Latino Heritage Month with music, performances and a first look inside the permanent new home of the Latino Cultural Arts Center in La Alma Lincoln Park.

The community has dreamed about this for years, and now they’ll have this dedicated place to create, learn or just grab a cup of coffee with a neighbor. Most of all, it’s a place where our young people can see their culture reflected and know they belong.

Grateful to everyone who helped make this happen and excited to see what our community creates here!

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate National Taco Day, head to one of Denver’s many local favorites, like El Taco de Mexico. For more than 35 years, this family-owned taqueria has been serving up authentic Mexican street food and keeping Denver well fed.

And while Santa Fe is under construction for the Streetscape project, part of the Vibrant Denver Bond that was approved by Denver voters last year, all businesses on Santa Fe are open! So head over today, grab some tacos and show our businesses some love.

We love Denver because this is the place where you can host a mini concert on your porch and thousands of your neighbors will show up to cheer you on. The inaugural Denver Porchfest was just that- bringing Denver to our Baker neighborhood to support our 192 local artists who performed across 85 porches. Thank you to the Denver PorchFest team for creating this joyful event in our city!

One year ago today, 16th Street reopened to Denver!

Since it first opened on October 4, 1982, 16th Street has been a place to shop, eat, meet up with friends and make new memories. Generations of Coloradans have come here for first dates, to catch a movie or to experience downtown during big events like MLB All-Star Week.

With the recent renovation, 16th Street now has 1,000 new pavers, 200 trees and more places to stop, gather and spend time downtown. And in just the past year, more than 3 million people have come back to see what’s new.

16th Street is Denver’s iconic main street, and it’s great to see it buzzing again. Here’s to many more years on 16th!
