🚒🔥 What's better than lunch at school? Lunch with firefighters, of course! Today, our Engine 14 crew and our Deputy Fire Marshal spent some quality time with nearly 300 students, from kindergarten through fifth grade, at Coronado Hills Elementary School in celebration of Fire Prevention Month.
There's no better way to celebrate this important month than connecting with the kiddos in our community, sharing fire safety tips, and hopefully inspiring a few future firefighters along the way!

Want to celebrate Fire Prevention Month with your own family? Here are a few simple ways to make fire safety part of your everyday routine:

-Test your smoke alarms together.

-Create and practice a family fire escape plan.

-Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room.

- Choose a safe meeting place outside your home.

-Talk with your kids about what to do if the smoke alarm sounds.

Election season is in full swing, and in-person voting is officially underway in Colorado!
If you prefer casting your ballot in person, now's your chance! Visit GoVoteColorado.gov to find a voting location near you, check hours, and get all the information you need before heading to the polls. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd!

Our last Open House of the year is coming up this Saturday, and we're saving something special for the grand finale! Join us on Saturday, October 24th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as we celebrate the Grand Opening of Station 10!
This station has quite a history. Once home to Station 11 and later our Fire Prevention Division, it's now back to serving the community as a fire station, and we can't wait to welcome you inside! We're also adding a little Halloween fun to this Open House. 🎃🍬
Bring the whole family to meet your firefighters, watch exciting auto extrication and technical rescue demonstrations, learn about our drone operations, tour the fire trucks, and enjoy plenty of other activities. And yes, we'll have candy for the kiddos!
Come celebrate with us as we open our doors, reconnect with our community, and wrap up an incredible month of Open Houses!
We can't wait to see you Saturday!

There were plenty of smiles and a little mischief at this year’s Valley View Fall Festival. Our Truck 11 crew and Life Safety Educator had a great time sharing fire safety tips, connecting with students and families, and getting into a few shenanigans along the way.
And by shenanigans, we mean handing the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Colorado candy when they asked us to keep an eye on it… and maybe decorating their patrol car with a few fire department stickers. (We have a feeling payback is coming!)
We truly enjoy supporting the schools in our district, and having a little fun while we are at it. :)

What a beautiful day for our Station 12 Open House!
We've truly enjoyed meeting so many members of our community throughout our Open Houses, and Saturday was no exception. It's been fantastic connecting with our residents, sharing what we do, and welcoming everyone into our stations. Enjoy a few snapshots from another memorable day!

A little rain didn't stop our firefighters from training earlier today. All week our crews have been putting their hazmat skills to the test with a scenario involving a person needing medical attention inside a vehicle. En route, crews learned the vehicle had signs attached to it, as well as a suspicious odor.
From there, each crew had to assess the situation and decide how to proceed. It was interesting seeing the different approaches, from interpreting detector readings and selecting the right equipment, to using apps to research the substance involved. (Hydrogen sulfide)
While every crew took a different approach, one important factor stood out. Our firefighters protective bunker gear provides a significant level of protection, and specialized hazmat suits aren't always necessary. The right protective gear depends on the hazards present and the conditions of the incident.

Our October Open Houses continue this Saturday October 17th!
This week, we’re opening the doors at Station 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and you’re invited!
Come meet your local firefighters, enjoy a free lunch, and get an up-close look at what we do at ACFR! Here’s what’s in store:
-Auto extrication and technical rescue demonstrations
-Meet Apollo, our arson detection dog
-Learn tips to help keep you and your family safe
- District residents can enter to win dinner with the crew or a ride to school for your child on a fire engine
-Bring the family, ask questions, see our crew in action, and spend some time with your local fire department!
