No rest for the weary, our firefighters day continued with another structure fire at a home in the 200 block of Grace Place. The call originally came in as an outdoor smoke investigation, but upon arrival, firefighters saw light smoke coming from the peak of the roof of the home. When our crews entered the home, they pulled the hatch down from the attic and saw smoke as well. Everyone had been evacuated, there were no injuries, and our investigators determined the cause of the fire to be electrical failure isolated to a junction box in the attic space.

Not only were our firefighters busy on Saturday, but so were our fire investigators! Our crews and investigators responded to a house fire in the 6300 block of Winona Street. Fortunately our firefighters kept the fire to the exterior of the home, and no one was injured. Our fire investigators determined the fire to be electrical failure isolated to the exterior panel.
What a 24 hours for our firefighters! They tallied 108 apparatus responses in just 24 hours, including 3 structure fires and two grass fires. This grass fire located was located at Clear Creek Lake Park and came in just after 1pm. This is footage from Brush Truck 11, which was later joined by Brush Truck 13 and Truck 11. There were no injuries and the cause was determined to be human caused.
It's been an extremely busy day and night for our firefighters. Not only did they respond to a grass fire and residential fire earlier today, but at 8:35 this evening, crews responded to a box truck fire in the 1400 block of E. 61st Ave. The fire spread to a nearby shed that contained laundry linens. Firefighters extinguished the fire before there was any damage to any other structures. There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation. Thank you to North Metro Fire Rescue District and South Adams Fire Department for your assistance.

This past week three of our firefighters took part in the North Area Technical Rescue Swiftwater Academy. Two of our Lieutenants helped teach the academy that taught participants how to look for hazards in the water, as well as safe routes to swim. They also learned multiple ways to rescue a victim including contact and tethered rescue, as well as boat operations for search, rescue, and recovery. After the week long academy, our firefighters earned their Swiftwater Rescue 1 and 2 certifications under the Dive Rescue International curriculum.
Congrats!
