💙 So, what exactly is the Colorado Counseling Association?

The Colorado Counseling Association (CCA) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting counselors and the counseling profession throughout Colorado.

CCA creates opportunities for professional development, continuing education, networking, advocacy, leadership, and community connection.

Our community includes counselors, counselor educators, supervisors, students, and other mental health professionals who are committed to strengthening the profession and improving the lives of the people and communities we serve.

From professional events and educational opportunities to advocacy and specialty organizations like Colorado SAIGE, CCA works to create spaces where mental health professionals can connect, learn, advocate, and grow together.

Whether you're a student just entering the profession, an experienced clinician, a counselor educator, a supervisor, or somewhere in between, there's a place for you in the Colorado counseling community.

That's the CCA! That's our community. And we'd love to have you be part of it.

🚨 Colorado Medicaid providers: Important NPI update!

Starting January 1, 2027, all service providers delivering behavioral health services through Health First Colorado, including pre-licensed clinicians and unlicensed professionals, will be required to have an Individual National Provider Identifier (NPI) listed on claims.

If you do not have an individual NPI yet, don’t wait until the deadline to apply. NPI applications are free through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES).

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day. 🌎💙

Mental health is part of overall health, and everyone deserves access to compassionate, person-centered care and support.

This year, the World Health Organization is centering the voices of people with lived experience with the theme “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” The message is a powerful reminder that people with lived experience bring essential expertise to conversations about mental health care, services, and policy.

As counselors and mental health professionals, let’s continue listening, learning, advocating, and creating space for the voices of the people we serve.

National Coming Out Day is coming up this weekend, October 11. 🏳️‍🌈

For many LGBTQ+ people, coming out can be a deeply personal experience that happens on their own timeline, in their own way, and when they feel ready.

As mental health professionals, we have an important role in creating spaces where LGBTQ+ clients feel seen, respected, affirmed, and supported.

That work is at the heart of CO-SAIGE, a division of the Colorado Counseling Association dedicated to advancing awareness, professional development, equity, inclusion, and affirming care for LGBTGEQIAP+ communities throughout Colorado.

Learn more about CO-SAIGE and how you can get involved with this important work.

Mental Illness Awareness Week is an opportunity to challenge stigma, create space for honest conversations, and remember that a diagnosis or mental health condition is only one part of a person’s story.

Every person deserves to be seen as a whole person, supported with compassion, and treated with dignity.

Let’s keep building communities where asking for help is met with understanding, not judgment. 💙
