University of Northern Colorado, UNC's Latinx Music program, the first of its kind in the country, recently expanded its community reach through a collaboration with Greeley Central High School, with support from an Equity in Arts Learning Grant. Together, the institutions established the Latinx Music Club, creating an opportunity for high school students to study and perform Latin American music while building a connection between secondary and higher education.

As part of the Creative Capitol Exhibition “Colorado: Past, Present, Future”, an exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of Colorado’s folk and traditional arts, join us in honoring the life and legacy of Josephine Lobato, a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow.

Rooted in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, colcha embroidery is a centuries-old textile tradition known for its distinctive hand-stitching and deep cultural ties to southern Colorado. Josephine helped carry this tradition forward, influencing generations of contemporary colcha artists.

The exhibition is also part of Colorado’s 250/150 commemoration, offering another opportunity to celebrate the people, traditions, and stories that make Colorado unique.

Participants are invited to share memories of Josephine, her life, and her work. Join us September 19, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Denver Central Library’s Park View Room.

The Arts in Society awards grants ranging from $5,000-$35,000 to support projects that use the arts to strengthen community health and well-being.

After completing the Accessibility and Disability Etiquette Training, Colorado artists and organizations used implementation stipends to turn what they learned into action, from:

- ASL Interpretation
- Sensory Supports
- Staff Training
- More Accessible Spaces

Support provided to the Downtown Longmont Development Authority allowed them to conduct an accessibility consultation that identified design issues in their plaza. Insights will be shared with their business owners to foster inclusive environments that better accommodate visitors with disabilities.

Why Inclusive Spaces Matter?

Inclusive design removes barriers, creating environments where all visitors can belong and participate in shared public places. Even making small changes can create more welcoming art experiences.

Ready to Create Accessible Arts Experiences?

Applications are open for the Accessibility and Disability Etiquette Training through Sept. 8, 2026. Tap the link below to apply!
