Catholic Charities was proud to be represented at the Denver Colfax Marathon by members of Catholic Charities Team Samaritan and St. Raphael Counseling! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️Employees and volunteers from across our ministries came together to challenge themselves, support one another and celebrate the power of teamwork. Their participation reflected not only a commitment to health and wellness, but also the strong sense of community that unites our organization. Team Samaritan is a community of cyclists, runners and walkers who raise awareness and critical funds to support Catholic Charities Samaritan House locations across Colorado. St. Raphael Counseling, the largest Catholic therapy practice in the country, provides compassionate mental health services for individuals, couples, families and children. We are grateful to everyone who laced up their running shoes and represented Catholic Charities with energy, dedication and team spirit. Congratulations to all who crossed the finish line! 💙

Ray’s story is one of courage, perseverance and hope. A decorated Vietnam veteran, Ray served our country with honor, earning some of the military’s highest awards. But when he returned home, he faced challenges that many veterans know all too well — trauma, homelessness and the difficult journey of rebuilding stability. Everything changed when he connected with Catholic Charities Samaritan House. This year, Samaritan House celebrates 40 years of serving our Colorado community, providing shelter, support and a path forward for individuals experiencing homelessness. 99% of Client Services and Veterans Program participants do not return to shelter once they leave Samaritan House. With support, community and a place to call home, Ray was able to rebuild his life, find lasting friendships and become a mentor to fellow veterans. Today, Ray lives at Catholic Charities Housing’s Courtyard Commons, an affordable housing community for veterans and seniors. Courtyard Commons is one of 31 affordable housing properties operated by Catholic Charities Housing across Colorado, providing stable homes where individuals and families can thrive. After everything he has endured—war, trauma, loss and hardship—Ray is grateful to have a place that feels like home. We are grateful to call him our neighbor. 🇺🇸💙

We’re sooo proud to celebrate Catholic Charities Early Childhood Education’s Erika Echeverria, an Early Head Start family educator, who was recently featured in the Colorado Department of Early Childhood’s “Early Childhood Champion Spotlight.” 💙 Erika’s journey with Head Start began as a parent in the program and today she serves families with compassion, care and a deep belief that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers. Through her work, she helps families navigate challenges, access critical resources and build confidence and hope for the future. Catholic Charities Early Childhood Education programs operate five Head Start and Early Head Start sites across Denver, serving hundreds of children daily with educational, emotional and developmental support. Many of the families we serve are experiencing homelessness or navigating foster care, making these programs a vital lifeline for children and parents across our community. A huge thank you to the team from Grand Hyatt Denver for spending the day volunteering at Catholic Charities Samaritan House 48th 💙 Their group helped serve meals, toured our women’s shelter and learned more about the realities many women experiencing homelessness face every day. We are so grateful for partners who choose to serve with compassion, dignity and kindness.
This year, Catholic Charities Samaritan House celebrates 40 years of serving people across Colorado. Since first opening in 1986, Samaritan House has expanded to five locations statewide — all made possible through the incredible generosity and support of those who believe in our mission. How Do We Love Well?? Not being “fixed.” Not being judged. But being seen, heard and safe. The way we respond to the people in our lives — our spouse, children, friends and community — has the power to bring peace, healing and connection. Loving well means listening with intention, speaking with grace and allowing Christ to shape our hearts in every relationship. “When a person is seen, listened to and given space to be right where they are without judgment, you can see a visible weight lifted.” In this thoughtful article, Sarah Green, a school counselor at St. Raphael Counseling, reflects on what it really means to love others well and how stronger relationships can transform our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Today, we pause in gratitude to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. May we remember their courage, pray for their families and strive to serve others with the same spirit of selfless love. We remember. We honor. We pray. 🇺🇸✝
“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

Look at these amazing colorful handmade quilts created by the Great American Quilters Group! Each year, this talented group donates handcrafted quilts to Catholic Charities and their creativity shines brighter than ever in this collection. Every quilt is made with remarkable love and compassion — with some taking upwards of 100 hours from concept to design to final stitching. Some of the ladies work from patterns, while others design their own from scratch. This season, they donated around 65 quilts and 70 handmade pillowcases, all of which will be distributed to the participants we serve across Samaritan House. We are deeply thankful for their talent, generosity and dedication to sharing warmth, comfort and dignity with our Colorado community. 🧵

Catholic Charities Marisol Health held its 3rd Annual Mass and May Crowning. The liturgy brought together donors, supporters and members of the Catholic Charities team for a meaningful time of prayer, reflection and community at our Marisol Health Denver location. The May Crowning offered a special moment to honor our Blessed Mother Mary with devotion and gratitude for her intercession. It was a grace-filled gathering that reflected the heart of Marisol Health’s mission: supporting women, children and families with dignity, compassion and faith. Since opening in 2016, Marisol Health has served more than 7,880 patients and celebrated more than 1,870 babies born. Our services continue to grow with two physical clinic locations — one in Denver and one in Fort Collins — and the launch of the Marisol Health Mobile Clinic, a clinic-on-wheels expanding care to underserved communities in Denver and Aurora.
