Denver Human Services provides both assistance benefits and protection and prevention programs to one in three Denver residents. Eligible residents may obtain medical, food, child care and other benefits through DHS' Assistance programs. Protection & Prevention services are provided via child, youth and adult protection services. DHS works every day to help all residents achieve their full potential and give back to their community.

Hey Denver! Runners, joggers, and walkers, this one’s for you! Join our DHS GIVE Center at Black Men Run Denver’s () 2026 Unity Run 5K on June 6, from 8–11 a.m. starting at Rude Rec Center (2855 W. Holden Pl). Our GIVE Center team will be onsite collecting new or gently used tennis shoes (all types welcome!) for our customers.

Want to join the run? 🏃 Waivers will be available at the event. Plus, enjoy vendors, shoe demos, and a great community vibe.

Denver program connects veterans to benefits, support over coffee and donuts 05/27/2026

In case you missed it, our Veterans Services team was featured on 9NEWS (KUSA) this Memorial Day 🇺🇸 , sharing important resources Denver veterans may not know about. Hear from our very own, Mark Garcia and Royce Hale, as they highlight the Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefit—an important resource for families of fallen service members.

You’ll also catch a glimpse of our monthly Coffee with a Vet event, held every second Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Volunteers of America Bill Daniels Veteran Services Center. Veterans can stop by for coffee, donuts, and helpful resources from DHS and community partners.
