The RAH program allows refugee students to gain knowledge, skills, and experience working in the food service industry while getting a better understanding of the United States. We are proud of our amazing ACC community members for completing the RAH program at University of Denver.

As always, thank you to Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management and the DU hospitality students for another successful cohort of RAH, and for all your mentorship in this essential integration course!

After spending more than 16 years living in a refugee camp in Zambia after her family fled conflict and abuse in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As the oldest daughter in a family of nine, Natasha had spent much of her childhood helping care for her siblings, supporting her mother’s small business, and navigating the realities of displacement at a very young age. After seeking refuge, she arrived in the United States with her family and began rebuilding their lives. Natasha describes her first months in America as exciting; but nervous too. With the support from the African Community Center and the Match Grant program, she received job readiness support, resume assistance, and direct support in navigating resources. Natasha got her first job working in hospitality and today works as a security guard while continuing to pursue greater stability and independence while aspiring to pursue higher education and marriage for the future.

On behalf of all of us at ACC, thank you to everyone that joined us to learn more resettlement, ACC, and how to support.
ACC staff and supporters shared their insights, knowledge, and action steps in light of continuous changes to refugee resettlement.
The highlight of the evening was the importance of each supporter; through time, partnership, generosity, or advocacy, each supporter has stood firmly by ACC's mission. As we continue to serve refugees, we are grateful to the Colorado community for its support.
