Milk does a body good… when it’s pasteurized 🥛

Recent pop-ups in Denver are gaining attention for the ultimate farm to table experience- serving raw milk directly from cow to cup. While raw milk may seem trendy, but it can carry harmful germs like Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, and Campylobacter that can cause serious illness.

The good news? Pasteurized milk provides the same nutritional benefits without the added risk.

Congratulations to Pit Fiend Barbecue, winner of the spring Food Matters Restaurant Challenge! 🥇 As part of their waste reduction efforts, Pit Fiend crafted a new lentil dish using surplus lamb fat.

"Many of our customers were very excited to see lentils on our menu - we had no idea they'd go over so well. We are serving them either as a side item, or as part of a rice bowl with pickled onions and an Alabama white sauce we make with Chinese five spice.” - Pit Fiend Chef & Co-founder, Michael Graunke

Taste this new dish yourself as part of the Food Matters Food Crawl, ending this Sunday: https://denverfoodmatterschallenge.org/foodcrawl/

Denver is in a Stage 1 drought, and it’s already impacting our lakes and streams. Warmer temps + lower water levels can mean higher bacteria like E. coli and more blue-green algae blooms—both of which can be harmful to people and pets.

monitors local waterways and does not recommend swimming or wading in city lakes or streams. If you’re near the water, avoid anything that looks cloudy, discolored, or has surface scum—this could signal a harmful algal bloom.
