A final look back with gratitude for the opportunity you gave me to transform Denver’s role in Housing. 2011: $0 local funds, barely 1 aff housing policy. Today: dozens of policies, headed toward ~$1 billion (locally) invested in new homes, rental assistance, resolving homelessness and stability for ~100,000 households by 2030-a foundation for your next leaders to build upon. Today reflecting on Denver’s struggle, the community’s support for this working class girl’s journey on Council to ensure families like mine could earn enough to live here. Knowing how hard it can be to make ends meet, organizing alongside service workers & allies til we won & blew past the $15 min wage, and other worker protections as well. Si se pudo. Humbling memories, words and stories as I was honored by my colleagues at my last Council meeting last night along with the other departing members. Democracy is a team sport and we’ve accomplished a lot as a Council.

I’ll miss the public art around the city buildings. This one is called Ascent in the Webb bldg.
